  • Yeah thanks, nothing though. Should have said I'm after a shogun/pajero lhd. They're about 30-40% cheaper in UK (if applies and can find lhd) and if I am back then bringing back isn't much issue.

  • You’ll need to pay import and VAT to register it in Spain, although of course that may be much lower than the amount saved on the purchase price.

  • Brilliant thank you. It’s the 3.0 six. It does have some failed pixels on the dash and the radio, still legible for now but I’ll get it looked at.

I’m in Northampton, there’s 2 BMW specialists and I’ve already had unsatisfactory service from both on my 15yo 1-series. I’m happy going to the main dealer, the professionalism there is worth the (not massive) premium.

  • Yeah it could work out so. The tax isn't too bad.

It's proberly not worth it, unless the right car came up and I was back in UK anyway.

  • Any south east London recommendations for Merc servicing?

  • Do NOT go to Bromley Mercedes unless you enjoy staring at your invoice thinking "fucking hell".

  • That e39 is lovely!

Cooling systems aren’t great on them, worth getting that checked over.

As for servicing, have you considered Munich Legends….

  • sweet work dude. lovely conversion that

  • Nice! What's the 0-60? :)

  • A postcard would get there quicker.

    Beautiful.

  • Its an EV conversion- so my guess is terrifyingly fast.
    Especially in that.

  • Ah, didn't look too carefully, even more impressiver! 0-60 by next Monday would feel like flying in that....

  • Contemplating a V70, probably a 10 yr old specimen for dragging a load of stuff around in comfort - looking at cars with 80-100k on the clock, am I mental? Any to definitely avoid?

Had a s60 a couple of years back that felt like a new car with 70k on it, if it had a boot I could fit a metric ton of crap in i'd still have it.

  • 100k is barely worn in. Just budget for suspension/belts etc. Might be worth going for something with more miles but belts done. Check service intervals and then look for cars and their history.

  • Is the belt replacement interval on those 100k? So best looking just over the 100k mark & make sure the big service items are done?

  • I don't know, hence saying look. Just Google for the manual and check. Then you can see. It'll be a time or milage thing so something to enquire about with owners. I'd rather buy more miles and better service history than less miles.

  • Northampton for you...

Is lumbertubs any less scum filled than the early 90s?

  • Watch out for autos which have been used for towing, and/or haven't had the gearbox oil changed.

My s60 gearbox oil was black at 70k miles, and started to chew through suspension bits (bushes etc) at 120k miles.

Also look for one with the SE spec stereo (HU850). At the time, apart from the Levinson system in the top spec Lexus, this was about as good as it got for standard ICE.

  • I’ve been offered £27,000 trade-in for this, so if anyone wants it with two sets of wheels, one with winters and one with summer/sport tyres for that let me know- the second set of wheels isn’t included in the trade in offer I have.

2015 E63 AMG estate, 550bhp and 700Nm of torque, will do over 200 de-restricted (which it isn’t), 50,614 miles, full MB service history and nothing wrong with it.

  • It’s amazingly dirty in this picture but scrubs up very well.

  • Top tips, cheers - yeah i remember the stereo on my old s60 was surprisingly good, should have just bought a roof box for that with the power of hindsight!

  • The roofbox I bought for mine is still lurking in the garage. Used once I think for a holiday so we could fit a pram.

  • 80-100k on the clock, am I mental?

I was having this exact same conversation with myself yesterday. I want a c.06 Mondeo ST estate, and everyone I've seen for the past couple of months has huge mileage. I've seen many saloons that would be perfect, but no estates. I can't convince myself that going for something with 100k+ on it is a wise thing to do.

But equally, I currently drive around in a similar era Focus ST that's got 90k on the clock and is fantastic.

Anyone able to talk me into it?

  • Selling already?!

I mean, I would. I think my wife might leave me... Also, insurance would be mental and I basically have the poor man's version with half the mileage already.
