  • How flexible is that car with that power.

  • GOD Daym...

  • I cannot look at any form of social media without the Taycan Estate popping up every 2 seconds- this happening to everyone else?

  • That's real noice

  • I am reminded of....

"Roads! Where we're going my boy, we don't need roads!"

  • Ok, it is just a lowered celica, or am I missing something?

  • Like @NurseHolliday says, its all from their point of view because they are fixing the broken ones all the time.
Family member got persuaded by their go to mechanic to NOT buy the car I had spent days researching and visited twice, but instead to avoid that engine variant all together and buy a different one because 'we hardly ever see those in for repair, they must last forever' and 'nah you don't want that one, in for injectors and turbos all the time, thousands mate, don't get one'

Nope, reason you don't see them in for repair is they've all gone bang already and are in teh bin already.
Most of the cars needing injectors and turbo's because they've been abused/never actually looked after. Injectors just bad luck and a lot of ebay remaps have a lot to answer for.

  • Knowledgable/opinionated folk of Car appreciation... the aesthetics, the engineering, etc. I need your advice. We're going to need a new car this year. New meaning not 'brand new' but 'new to us'. Budget >£7,500.

We're in the sticks (or frequently get from A to B via country roads). Occasional ford to cross plus flooded roads when it's wet (though these are usually closed off pretty quick and diverted). Got a dog so would like to fit a crate in and not have it take up all the boot space.

I like the idea of 4x4/AWD. I like the idea of estate/tourer. Not wedded to either idea though. Would be great if it didn't ruin us to run/maintain. What would you suggest?

  • This ex-police car fits the bill.

  • Injectors are a service part, the tips wear and the electrics wear out same as mechanical injectors. Pumps wear out too, especially with modern low sulphur fuels.

  • Volvo xc70 in whatever year fits your budget

  • Honda Jazz.

  • never seen a dealership like that - very interesting. i guess although they all have really high miles (and have been ragged to fuck every now and again) you can be pretty confident they have been serviced routinely and looked after.......?

  • Taking the car in to get the clutch done tomorrow - just walked past it and found a piece of the front spring on the floor. It never rains but it pours!

  • Something like that, large engined estate is probably ex firearms or surveillance not CID, so has probably been thrashed, abused and possibly got a butchered wiring loom from the blues and twos, the airwave fit and any techie surveillance kit that was fitted. (Another use for bigger cars) I’d swerve it. My reluctance partly being based on how I destroyed the engine on my work bmw 3 series diesel on a fast run from London to Manchester once, being in a colleagues car when the oil warning buzzer came on every time we went round a bend hard and being near a number of crashes, rammings and general fuckwittery (and I was fairly mechanically sympathetic).

  • A couple of spots today on my walk.

One of the boxy Alfa's and something French for @citron

  • Sisley is a nice idea but how many are there remaining? And what was the Madagascar?
Modern Panda 4x4 is a great car. Other than that, a Talbot Rancho.

  • An Acadiane with 2cv wings and light bar, I do wonder if they’ve kept the Dyane bonnet to accommodate a four cylinder!
    All the speed...

  • That's the newer one. The 1600 6 speeds are the one to get, apparently the 1800 is pretty shit. I rather like the AE95 old weird looking squarey thing.

  • One drove past me on a little track just a couple weeks ago. Wanted to fire up a conversation but the moment passed too quickly.

  • I would get a Discovery 3, the original one with the unpainted arches and nicer face, 2 tonne load lugger, people reckon they’re expensive when they go wrong but 7k should get a decent one. Never owned one so can’t vouch for them but they’re banning cars in a few years so just get something fun before we’re all forced to drive Teslas
