Ha, that's bonkers, and a pretty useful insight in case I ever have a car with a stop/start!

Why so?

I think the wheels are from a Porsche, as often VW air coolef converters use Porches parts to upgrade.

Do newer Teslas still shit their pants when in the shadow of an overbridge. The 2015 Model S I drove for a while would hit the brakes passing under bridges or through the shadow of an HGV. Disconcerting when you're having forty winks.

They’re not though. Fairly confident they’re old school VW/Porsche

Probably, looks like fuchs or fuchs copies. Getting drums redrilled is the usual way.

They look like SSP reps to me, annoys me how they don't mask of the wheels properly
These days I think most people use blank vw hubs/discs drilled for Porsche 5 stud. Redrilling 4x130 to 5x130 can result in cracking.

Phantom braking on autopilot is still a thing but definitely not that common. I’ve done maybe 1,000 miles in various Tesla’s with maybe 50% of that on autopilot. Have experienced two phantom brakes.

Paying for further diagnosis of something that isn’t broken.

Because you've remotely diagnosed it via the Internets? Sounds like a wise basis for gambling £28,000.

I was doing 1500+ a week from April to the end of July last year. It's definitely much worse in bright summer sun.

I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Apparently the FSD beta which is working well in the US will trickle down to the autopilot mid next year so that should help eliminate some of them.

Is it diesel or petrol? If diesel the car might need a regen for it to work.
-
• #60866
Ha! I know it's not really your aesthetic, mate... I'll have to learn to drive stick before I can drive something you'll approve of... It's a reliable runabout, good enough for now but not very exciting, I'll grant you that... And it needs a turbo...
Or maybe a supercharger... 🤔💡

It's petrol. From the MB Forum:
"For what it’s worth, my GL63 (different car, same M157 power unit) hasn’t been used much lately - and mainly shorter trips too recently, but within minutes of heading out this morning it was doing it’s thing. That’s with the usual loads at this time of year - heated seats, climate control working away, entertainment stuff on etc.
Parked up after ~ 15 miles and restarted a couple of times during the day and it’s been stopping and starting as you would expect eg traffic lights etc or when queueing.
Mine’s a 2013, so a year or two older than yours, but I suspect it’s broadly similar in terms of the factors that enable stop/start to function.
Have never needed to put mine on charge either - not would I expect yours to need to be, especially after your 300 miles trip last week, a brand new battery from the dealer and a 40 mile run this morning."

ah don't mind me dude. I forgot you were limited to auto. and living in the sticks as I do now I do appreciate having a practical car. I just can't bring myself to take a photo of it.

I was trolling tbh, this thread disappears up its own bunghole so often that a little bit of vanilla is sometimes the perfect antidote... Hope you're good, miss you! 🖤
And cars are boring anyway, it's all about guitars, mate, lots and lots and lots of guitars... Cheaper and easier to stash than cars... ☺️

• #60870
For a second there I thought you were saying that you had a GL63 as well!
-
• #60871
No idea about blanks, I've not been in the scene for years. Only ever saw redrilled drums and brake disc were left as standard 4 bolts.
Had an early bay window and a couple of marathon beetles...Italian friend an lpg converted camper.....it was slow, even slower than a petrol one.

heehee. might have to get one of those new electric guitars.
xx

• #60873
Because
Everyone who has used stop/start is telling you that it's not like a set of headlights which light when they work and don't when they don't.
It is designed to game a system. This means "working" = functioning in a specific set of test conditions. Not when you want it to, and definitely not when you're not using it daily and doing London driving.
-
• #60874
Now read the quote from the guy with the same system that I posted into this thread, who directly contradicts you.

This. Lovely trip down to London and back in the Tesla today. Autopilot is great.
