It’s got quite a lot of new metal which needs a proper coat of paint to protect it. The original paint looks better than it is in reality and I don’t really want it to rust away in a year or two because I couldn’t face doing it again.
Also I really want it to look original and reflect the work that has gone into it -

Thanks for advice on the kurust.
I might try it myself if I can muster a few helpers and a full weekend, but the problem is time as I have a young family. Probably less stressful to pay. There are a couple of good garages local to me, will enquire.

Rome is an extremely stressful city to drive in (and worse to park in), I'm not surprised there aren't too many people rolling around in posh cars!

I didn't think I was that kind of prick, but I am big enough to admit that I am 100% that prick
I quite like older TTs, the rounded lines aren't aggressive enough for full prick points. Unlike the later versions. They came in some nice colours too. If you bought a nice one you'd get my approval.
Are you sure you don't want to be able to carry bikes though?

Vanden Plas had 14 inch wheels, as in the picture above. The EFi was basically a Vitesse with an automatic gearbox and no boot spoiler, and as such had the 15 inch Vitesse wheels. It also had leather seats as standard, which lifts the interior significantly.
I am very sad and can probably list the spec differences of the whole range without going to my brochures or books.

Totally understand. If I'd put all that effort in I'd probably want it back to original too. Such a good effort, congrats.
I've now spotted 3 2cv's of various vintage in my local area, all get used everyday. Equally brave, mad and marvelous.

Is the sad part being able to list the specs, or having the brochures and books?

Really liking the look of this, ~~but based on emissions it'll be £540 or £870 a year on tax - can anyone help me work out if it meets RDE2?

But this give me £200/yr

fuck that is really low mileage for the age. I have the same car but 2002 and nearing 170000 miles. Picked it up off a forumenger who had to get rid as not ULEZ friendly. And I moved to the sticks so not a problem.
Can't advise on that. But car is a joy to drive

It’s from 2004, you want this page https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-registered-on-or-after-1-march-2001

Think I'm going to try and have a look this week. I was pretty bummed that I was gonna have to replace my Astra with something equally boring. Fingers crossed it doesn't get snapped up!

Of course, it says in big letters "registered after April 2017"on the page I was looking at. D'oh.
Thanks!

but then why would someone spend that kind on money on and SD1.
Check retrorides forum, someone has done a total rebuild on an ex police SD1, there wasn't much metal to start with

My bike packing was markedly better for the return trip as I thought it might rain.

Sorry, I have a strong dislike of external bike carriers after my Orro fell off one on a dual carriageway near Worcester then someone crashed into the back of my car when I stopped to get it. Forget that other people don't have the same lived experience.
The 2cv is looking great, not temped to keep it multicoloured?
