  • Dammit you should offer your engine upgrade to Jethro Bovingdons who's seems to have eaten itself and is in need of a rebuild

  • The articles he has posted about that are somewhat contradictory- his current engine was rebuilt by Autofarm with steel liners, but he was worried about bore score. Hopefully things will make more sense as he digs into it.

I’d be delighted for him to drive one of our cars when the engines are done.

  • No it's beyond help, it's fucking shite in every single respect

  • Now to be deadly pragmatic, how near a bigish town and what are the crit air category the car comes under.

Depends how the car copes with sitting still and modern fuel going off. Then getting the thing to start and run. I'd say don't get a small smart car. They are shite and hate sitting about for time.

You know about car buying and the differences to the UK? I can't seem to get a definitive answer.

Also you are in the price bracket that the current french scrappage scheme super values cars against new cars that are getting cheaper as car sales have dropped.

  • Die Goppen, Shirley?

  • I did a lot of kms in Mk1 Twingos that my mates usually borrowed off their mums. It's a great littlecar, but you'll struggle to find one in good nick now... Mks 1 Pandas were great fun to drive, more so than my Super 5, the Citroen AX was the best though (you've seen that Nürburgring video, right?).
Still plenty of 4L around, used as dailies, if you're not doing any motorway driving.

  • My mate just bought a Fiat Panda 100 for under £1,500 and it is a ripper. I'd really recommend it.

  • Went to an upholsterers, hoping to get my headliner repaired. This is being used as the coffee table.

    Plastic, but beautiful.

  • Ah, an Aristocat. My dad once bought a house off someone who had built one of those, destroying a series 1 XJ6 to do so.

  • One for our Australians:- A2 in Sydney

  • If you've got time to kill with a slight detour, Münster is a beautiful town!

  • Looking for somewhere around the latitude of Karlsruhe I think as that’s roughly halfway to Aachen from here

  • Karlsruhe is nice! Heidelberg isn't and is lovely as well. I only stopped there for an hour or so on my way to somewhere else but it's very picturesque.

Edit: meant to say "isn't far"

  • Wow, didnt think they were officially sold here. That dealers in North Sydney under the rail line.... Might go check it out.

  • They were't, someone has got to a lot of trouble, changing the clocks over to Ks on an A2 is not an easy matter. All the coding for the immobiliser and engine control goes through them. Strong money aswell. Unlikely an British import as all UK cars had remote central locking. Special order is the guess.

  • after the recent love for the Saab 900 on here was good to see this going for double the estimate at the weekends Anglia Car Auction

  • and the Aston Martin Lagonda didn't sell in case anyone fancies something a little crazy

  • Hmm, would have to wonder if Kay's are genuine if all the other effort has been made. Second hand car prices are nuts here though.

  • That's ace. Sad though... Everything is becoming out of reach.

  • yeah they must be a genuine 11,000 miles. been monitoring prices at the auctions and not seen anything like that happen before. the guys at ACA get their estimates pretty accurate.

and not everything is out of reach!

  • What in the ever living fuck is that thing!? Stretch Volvo with a Volvo trailer thing.

    Ace / awful.

  • I am trying to sort out the finance on a new car subscription / rental thingummy deal. (Pay monthly, don't own car at end).

Finance is being applied for in Mrs mashton's name as she has all the £££.

The finance company are now saying they can't proceed with the application unless the insurance policy is in her name too. She has a license but hasn't driven for 20 years. Zero NCB.

I want it to be in my name, with her as a named driver, if necessary.

    We are married.

    Is this normal?

Can working men not buy cars for their wives? WTF?

  • It's pretty normal. Own the car, own the insurance.
