1985 and mint. Reckon you will pick up a reliably rural one there within pocket

Looks like the Foreign Office is going to put Switzerland on the quarantine list from (guessing) Saturday onward, so we’ll have to move into Germany ahead of that, and travel Northward over a couple of days. What should I go and do en-route?

300mph seems excessive

Twingo is certainly my first choice. They are so holidayish. Alex likes old Pandas.
A Jazz is not and never will be on my shopping list. Sorry. They are hideous cars for pensioners. When have you ever seen one without dents. Also difficult to find parts for in France.
Renault 4s are sadly without my price range for roadworthy examples. Maybe as a hobby project

I'd look for a 205 Si... Mainly because of Baptiste pitiose (spelling?) Series on YouTube... His little 205 goes everywhere. What about a 205 CTi? Otherwise twingo or old panda 4x4

Having driven one, I'd say they're rather good cars. Albeit mostly driven by pensioners. Hence the dents.

Wow... Who signed that off?

No one - it's a shit fan render where they've fucked up the overall roof line and the front end height.
It definitely wont be a good looking car but it wont be as bad as that.

Chris Harris just posted to his Instagram a video of him driving off in the new M3 Estate, saying “now it’s up to the aftermarket to fix the face”

A very close friend used to live there, I'm not sure I'd class it as a tourist destination, he lived there because it was extremely cheap to live there compared to living within Luxembourg.

I’ll provably pick somewhere around half way and see what it’s like

Mk1 Twingo or a Panda. Aren't Panda's insainly simple to work on if you need anything fixed? As cool as the 4x4 is, it sounds like something extra to go wrong on a car that's not driven much.
Left field is a 106 in Kid spec (red or blue only with a denim interior)... you could buy two Although I think the Clio is the most attractive of all the suggestions if chic is the brief.
Edit: thinking about it I'd choose a modern Panda as you'll be able to find one with air con and in the summer you'll sweat your balls off without it.

For a station car in the south of France I submit that 4 wheel drive is somewhat over the top. Just put the Twingo on winter tyres and it’ll happily tootle around year round.

Shouldn't be too hard. Just a front bumper a way from looking average. It's got that i40 tourer vibe going on.

Well I would say go old school R4 @bq
Saw this little number in village garage in deepest Suffolk yesterday (out of budget and wrong side of channel I know)
