Having driven one, I'd say they're rather good cars. Albeit mostly driven by pensioners. Hence the dents.

A very close friend used to live there, I'm not sure I'd class it as a tourist destination, he lived there because it was extremely cheap to live there compared to living within Luxembourg.

Mk1 Twingo or a Panda. Aren't Panda's insainly simple to work on if you need anything fixed? As cool as the 4x4 is, it sounds like something extra to go wrong on a car that's not driven much.

Left field is a 106 in Kid spec (red or blue only with a denim interior)... you could buy two Although I think the Clio is the most attractive of all the suggestions if chic is the brief.

Edit: thinking about it I'd choose a modern Panda as you'll be able to find one with air con and in the summer you'll sweat your balls off without it.

For a station car in the south of France I submit that 4 wheel drive is somewhat over the top. Just put the Twingo on winter tyres and it’ll happily tootle around year round.

That's pretty common.

@Dammit that whole area has nice scenery, although quite rainy, so there's that. Otherwise once you take wine of the list there's not a great deal. Although there have to be hills you can ride even if they're not on the level of the trails you've been on recently.
