  • Yup, could likely cram 3 bikes in it without any bother. I think I'll probably end up with one inside and the option for another on my rack mount at the back.

It's a derivative of the LS motor - only 350hp or so but grunty as hell. 6sp auto is really nice. MPG is not bad on a run. Trannies and Sprinters are way more civilised, this is the proverbial blunt instrument though and soooo much cheaper. I like it!

  • I sold mine 15 years ago for £3.5k immaculate lime green, it was awful to drive but I loved it.

  • .

  • Lucky escape at the garage today. I thought the main seal had gone in my Audi 80 luckily just an oil pressure sensor spewing out oil.

  • Yeah the idea of getting one for GF dad went out of the window. Thought about finding a decent plastic body and replacing everything but that is expensive too.

  • It is no dodge ram ;)

  • That's mad! Looks like the perfect 90's crime movie van.... Like a crew misfit bank robbers are stuffed inside...

  • I’ve just read that topping off petrol past the “click” can be really bad and potentially fill the charcoal evaporation filter with fuel.

First time I filled the car up, I topped it up quite a bit past the click until it wouldn’t fill any further. Won’t be doing that again but what are the chances I’ve caused some damage?

  • Depends on flow rate from the pump and filler tube/fuel tank design as to whether the click is at the full point or not.
You’d have to fill it to the point of fuel being visible in the tube to have any issues with expansion/overflow/etc. Not sure where the takeoff point for the vapours is but I’d imagine the highest point in the system (ie near the filler cap).

  • Cool, don’t think I filled it quite that much. I imagine it’s a pretty robust design to stop schmucks like me from constantly stuffing the tank...

  • Little silver beauty behaved herself at MOT by not throwing any last minute Italian surprises and romped through without any advisories.

  • Looks great. Health to drive.

  • Looks great.. The fiat coupe and the GTV both still look fantastic!

  • Cheers chaps.

  • Bit of a rant which is as much my fault as anyone's.

Won't bore you with the background but I finally got the Golf it's major service.

Went for an indy to save some money, in particular for the DSG oil change - as Internet wisdom and Indy's say the DSG oil should be changed at 40k (which VW don't do) as well as factory levels being too low - which is why they shit themselves so often.

The whole experience was so rushed in one those busy places where you never felt you could get someone to talk to you properly. It was made more stressful as I had to get back quickly to help with childcare. So ultimately I couldn't actually check that all the VW service items were done, nor ask about the condition of the car and when things like pads needed replacement.

Also the car wasn't well cleaned so upon getting home I immediately got a load of grief from my OH about that given the total cost as she essentially believes servicing is made up conspiracy to fleece you.

Won't name the garage as other than being busy I don't know that anything hasn't been done. But it makes me value 1) the main dealer pickup service and those little videos they send you, and 2) Technosport the BMW indy I used to take my MINI to. Where the owner would run you to the station and give you the feeling that they'd done a thorough job.

Just needed to get it off my chest.

Oh and the car was parked miles away and I had to go back to get the log book stamped.

  • My mate gave me a fancy pioneer receiver that he pulled out of his last car. Just whacked it in the van with some new door speakers. Splendid improvement!

  • Just changed a H7 bulb on our Saab. Took an hour incl removing and reinstalling the battery.

Whoever designed that needs a stern talking to.

  • Ok, no one has a better route suggestion than Morgins>Aachen, Aachen>Calais?

It makes the most sense to me, but perfectly willing to be told that there is a better way

  • 900 back from the dead, handled it's second 6 hour blast down to the coast in a week with ease

  • Anyone have any real world experience with a new JCW? The manual transmission is back.

  • Such a good looking car

  • These are very cool.

  • I’m going to own one of these in my life. They are stunning from every angle.

  • I had a similar problem changing the thermostat on my Audi 80. Not only is it in a stupid place the water pump bracket is right in the way. I had to hammer a bend into a spanner just to get any purchase.

Car engine bay designers are dicks

  • What's the procedure if you're early at channel tunnel / chunnel? Do you just park somewhere and wait? Or can you get on earlier trains if they have space?
