  • All this assumes not spending any additional money on it for that time period...

    Not. Fucking. Happening.

Having said that, it is lovely. It's probably the car you should have bought in the first place.
Just like the Rolex chat in the other thread; buy cheap, buy twice.

    edit: golf chat thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • I couldn't have bought it three years ago. I'd also want to keep my cab, as we're so far along with the engine (and brakes, and transmission) project that it would be foolish to move it on.

To keep the value in the GT3 it would need to be kept bone stock, and of course serviced well.

  • They'd also do no deposit, £700/month, same balloon of £35,384. Which is more attractive in many ways.

  • Do it and enjoy it. Wouldn’t you need to factor garaging cost in too though?

  • No way he won't buy it.

Once you've asked the question, it's all downhill.

  • I could park Percy (the current 911) outside on the drive and put the GT3 in the garage. I'd prefer to garage all the cars though, it is true.

  • No way he won't buy it.

Once you've asked the question, it's all downhill.

Next year I'll have ten years sober, I was wondering about getting a GT3 to celebrate that, and the (in some ways sad, in some ways not) reality that if I'd kept drinking I'd have a) drunk more than 60 grand over those ten years and b) never have got to the position of being able to buy a 60k GT3 in the first place

  • All I did was google Alfa 6c 3000 Goodwood

You should let Christopher Mann know that his car is wrong :)

  • Ten years sober and ten years no kids.

In cash and carbon terms a GT3 is within budget.

    Go for it.

You know insurance gets cheaper when you add extra drivers, don't you... Just sayin'...

  • To play devils advocate: why would you do this when you already have one car you're currently throwing time and money at being very similar? To that end you'd have a proper GT3 on your drive and your Cab GT3-esque project. I'd feel that driving one would spoil parts of the other and vice versa.

Are there not any other cars that take your fancy that are different enough that you can enjoy both in equal measure?

  • F355, probably.

  • Didn't recognise the car from the revival. The car is labelled as a discovolante on pinterest, am sure the owner knows what he has.

  • When you do the maths, 60k is £115 a week. I don't drink much, but I'd be curious to see what 60k would get me if i started stashing £115 away every week until my 40th birthday, 9 years and 8 months from now. Probably a tesla of some sort...

@Dammit i don't think you'd regret buying a gt3, but i do think you'd regret not driving it on for fear of devaluing it.

  • The finance example is based on doing 5,000 miles per year in it.

  • Shame the good ones are well north of 60K now.

  • Not wanting to be a dick or anything, but yeah. This.

It's probably the car you should have bought in the first place.
    ; buy cheap, buy twice.

    I say do it.

But I'd go for the HSBC option as it's net cheaper and I assume you've picked figures you can afford.

  • Yeah but will you realistically bring it out on a trackday, or will it be 5,000 miles of nice weather weekend spins.

  • Don’t do it.

  • How much more would one be that isn't a ghastly colour?

  • ^ madness.

Yellow is a perfect colour for that car.

  • How much more would one be that isn't a ghastly colour?

Speed Yellow is the launch colour for the mark one GT3, it's the one that was featured in Autocar and that really made me want one, 20 years ago.

  • I'm a massive fan of yellow performance cars, I'd also have it in yellow.

    Dakar yellow e36 m3, phoenix yellow e46 m3, liquid yellow renaulstport clio/megane/clio v6....

  • £115 a week

At that rate @Dammit your liver wouldn’t have made it 10 years. Celebrate with a GT3!
