  • It's part of the window lifting mechanism

  • It's the motor mount for the electric window. Episode 7 according to a quick Google...

  • yeah i just checked and we're just outside the A205 as well, so the charge is really, as you point out, if you cross the curtain of doom. good to know i don't have to worry about selling toot sweet - still, i don't really want to maintain 2 cars so probably gonna sell up regardless.

  • Anyone has any experience with the Renault Laguna II? Found a rather cheap one that looks decent...

The number of times I've driven into London can be measured on one hand in 2018, if I do take the filthy polluter then paying the £12 is not a show-stopper.

  • Yeah, I live inside the South Circular.

The Bluemotion Passat, what I bought with an environmental mindset, turns out to be a kid killer with horrible NOXious emissions.

The petrol engined MG on the other hand, is exempt due to being elderly.

So I will use the impractical car as much as possible. Basically to go Sainsburys.

Any IKEA trips will now be £12 more expensive. Ass biscuits.

  • I'll use £12 more petrol to get to Ikea than you will, to balance it up.

  • Still plugging away at the stereo - these things are complex:

  • What is consensus on Diesel hive?

Shud I invest in another work horse Tdi and risk higher duties/ ban in coming years?

Am I a heartless capitalist pigdog?

I do under 10k in Surrey anually.

  • Don't talk to me about ulez

  • I just bought a Suzuki alto for£470 whch is ulez friendly and very cheap £30 road tax and does 100 miles on a tenner .this way i can still keep my vw sharan tdi 2014 and only pay congestion charge only once a month after October 2021.:-)

  • I thought modern diesels and petrols were pretty similar in terms of C02, but the diesel particles are the real killers causing asthma in kids etc.

  • If your tdi is 2015 onwards you will be ulez friendly.

  • Yes, had a few as cheap hacks/load luggers.

PM me and we can chat.

  • I was looking at a 2013 Tiguan tdi which is cheap like the budgie caus it is not ULEZ compliant.

However, I am never going to drive into central or even greater for that matter.

I guess it will not hold value though. But again, does this matter?

    Cheers for the thoughts.

  • Thats right september 2015.

  • If you getting the car cheap and plan to keep a long time then no worries..
If you going to sell a short time then i advise to sell the car outside london .

  • I live inside the 2021 expanded zone and neither cars are compliant.

I can't complain, I just wonder if stopping me driving once or twice a week would really make an impact. I guess all those 1 or 2 journeys a week add up across London.

  • I'm using my big tdi car only on long journeys on the south and north Circular once a month, £12 is a bargain. Beats buying a newer car .i will save the Planet by riding my bicycle,When i can.

  • That's for the 911 - the five and a half litre estate car passes and isn't subject to the charge, and therefore is the ideal around town runabout.

5 litre V10 with twin turbos is also free to use in the ULEZ on account of its green credentials. None of my kit cars are, however, despite their teeny tiny engines. No idea why I'd ever want to drive one of them in London anyway, so that's probably academic.

  • I have a similar situation - 2013 Skoda Fabia TDI I’ve owned for 5yrs. I live outside the greater 2021 ULEZ area and never drive to central anyway, my plan is to drive it to my parents house in the North and sell it from there when the time comes

  • Had to buy two of these over Christmas:
