  • Mother of god! Is that the transmission making that jet engine sound, it keeps going when the engine is not under load coming into that bend at the start of the vid.

  • Any car designers/students on here? I'm doing automotive design at Coventry

I work in the Design Office of Williams F1, if that counts?

  • The whining sounds like a straight cut box and the exhaust note is fucking epic. Cheers for that video. I'll def have to join you next year dude. My next trip is August, can't wait.

  • I wore out the primary gear on my old Mini a few years back, it made the car sound like it had s/c gears. Unfortunately it was the noise of the crank boring a hole through the side of the lump into the clutch housing.

  • In other news, there's a sprint meeting at Crystal Palace on 30/31st May, reviving the classic days of 60s and 70s motorsport in London.

Looking at the entrants there are some serious cars entered.

It absolutely does if complimentary tickets to a GP are involved ;)

  • Looks very much like an Eagle/Nova.

I went to one of these when they last organised it; 10 years ago?

On the following weekend is the Brooklands Double Twelve festival, at... err... Brooklands. There is a VSCC sprint on the Saturday.

It's at Brand, and yes, is this Monday. I'd invite you along but I'm heading down in an MNR riding shotgun, so no spare seats! ;)

Never actually seen in real life, but always comes up on the Landy forums. I'm gonna have to steer well clear of JE when I get the Ranger, very aware that I could spend a fortune there. Ony things I want to do are upgrade to Koni shocks, upgrade roll bars, install tighter steering rack, full stanless exhaust...

Erm, might give them a buzz! ;)

  • cool minkfarmer.

sam and african sunset i might come down to the palace, we should organise a meet point

    sweet!!
or we can just run it on methanol, got some in the lab ;)

Nice. 1.6 better than the 1.9?

  • Never drove a 1.9, but the gearing's tighter in the 1.6, and it revs harder, so I guess it depends on your driving style.

The 1.6 is a ball-ache on the motorway, properly screams.

  • yeah, I have this v which is also not a motorway car! (4100rpm at 70) Heard the 1.6 handles slightly better too with the lighter engine.
