  • My heart is pretty set, I'm also in Sweden so will need a LHR :)

  • Are you sure about this? Everywhere says it's an external on the 850, not internal until 1998.

  • What does the Haynes Manual say?

  • My money is on external slave.

  • Oops forgot I've got the Haynes, will check tonight.

    http://www.deaconcraft.com/

this place reckons they can do it this week which would be ideal.

  • Wow. He’s driving that!

  • 10 minutes that felt like an hour! What a ride

  • I'd not rebuild myself. Just replace or get them re built with a stainless steel liner.

Have had issues with volvo lines splitting, replaced with stainless steel ones and then it was fine.

  • Not really sure, if you look on french car forums someone may have more details.

  • Would a g clamp with a spacer do?

In the past I have used a vice and a big nut.

  • Went to see that Amarok today. Pretty well kept, but a few dings. Some paint rub that the owner had fixed himself so not the prettiest.

    Pros are:

    Low milage for it's age - 2011, 6500 miles
    Cambelt recently done
    Full service at VW
    Good summer / winter tyres
    Good honest owner
    Recent MOT

    Cons:
Newly changed cambelt as the top went?
Few scrapes, dings and rust spots
    No parking sensors / camera

Price is good, best I can find in the country for the milage. There's a better one for sale close by, but it'll need about £3k in parts before it's how I want it.

    Should I?

  • 6,500 or 65,000?

  • Or 20116500?

  • If it's 65,000 then a UK equivalent would be priced at around £14,000, albeit the ones I just looked at on Autotrader are all cosmetically very good.

I suppose the question is, how cheap is it?

  • 65k miles, though my head is soft after 10 days of solo parenting. Pretty normal for a 2012 car, right?

It’s just south of £14k but cars here are more expensive. Compared to other amaroks from the same year, similar mileage, etc it’s £1-2k cheaper, even more so if you factor in a £1k cam belt in the near future. It also has leather seats which is nice but no must.

  • Have a go in one of the £1-2k more expensive ones, then make your decision.

  • All the tradies down here buy ford rangers now. The amorak seems to have fallen out of favour.

Apparently they were too gutless for Aussie blokes and their tools...

Doesn't impact @kboy at all. Just observations from Ute country.

  • Ah yeah sorry, 1998 v70 over here
    External ftw

  • VW just binned the four pots, all V6's now for the Amarok, tradies of the world rejoice.

  • The 4 pot I drove today was s l o w. I don’t mind, but I bet a lot of people do.

  • SOLD.
My golf’s for sale £1500 for forumengers. Help me buy a 130i.
MOT April, 99500 miles. 1.8GL Auto. Leaks oil. Is nice. Has selvedge dye on drivers seat. Yep.

  • This is the peak of old fart and badass combinations

  • What was the cause of the cambelt failing?

  • The owner didn't know, but I assume it was the cam belt cover that was too small on this engine but got updated by VW later on. Reading on some South African forums a lot of people had issues there when they drove a lot in dusty environments, but this car hasn't so a bit odd tbh. Unless gravel roads can be considered dusty environments, but I wouldn't say so

  • So he didn't have the truck at the time?
