  • would that get a decent shadow chrome finish?

  • Great choice! Hope you're enjoying it.

  • They're pulling your pants down with the amount they charge you, so just get your equal.

  • refurb'd

Be interested to hear where you get this done and the quote you're given. Considering the same. Also need to get the nasty back plates replaced/delete too.

  • ONly issue is car is some weird colour, in some light it's black and some midnight blue. Wonder if solid black would look too juxtaposed.

  • Paintit in billericay (near me) £280 for 4. Or 80 each. Reviews seem really good.

  • Down to the person that does it, but can be really good. Seen it on a few show bikes. No idea how it would last normally.

  • If you're more South, the Wheel Specialist in Fareham are meant to be very good, but it's a fair old trek!

  • I think alloy wheels should be silver.
Black and anthracite are less popular these days, if you're thinking about resale value.

  • Nah intend on keeping the car for quite a few years. hence sorting a few things out to get it right. Bought it as a long term keeper.

  • Thanks (and @NurseHolliday) - will check 'em out.

  • It's Carbon Black - like mine... best colour they do imo.

Seems to work well on the e60 (couldn't find an e61 example with a quick google).

  • Where I am that price seems about right. Tried a few places and all about same price. Others perhaps a little cheaper, but this place seems to have great reviews.

  • It is a cool colour.

    Those CSL wheels are nice.

  • wheel specialist is a chain, i had good quote from their kingston branch and they are highly reviewed.
I was also recommended a place in Gravesend, maybe it was RimTec, but i'm not sure. It had great reviews though.

  • Ah didn't know that, Kingston is much closer than Fareham!

  • These are reps but this colour, Shadow Chrome or "Hyper Black" some people call them

  • I’m sure I’ve seen that colour on an M3, looks great

  • That’s a nice colour. Think that or black.

  • Hyper Black.

    Hahhahajajahahahhahhaa

  • Ultra racist. Obvs.

  • Winner, would look really nice on that black wagon.

Think that finish first appeared on the E39 M5.

Nice halfway between black and anthracite, only better.

  • Is the car blue or black?

    Definitely not black.

Anthracite works best on grey/silver, charcoal, and white imo. Bright silver is a good contrast for black and navy blue imo. But anthracite on a black car still works. It does hide the brake dust better.

Edit: missed that you said the colour. 100% don't get black wheels then (and that e61 up there proves it) . I still think silver. Is it possible you're just looking to change them, just because?

  • Just considering my options before I commit.

You’re right about black. But that hyper black does look good. Nothing wrong with silver, looks good. Just oem and fancy being a little different.

  • My newphew bought a new car recently- he transferred his insurance to it. He was selling his old car privately and I asked him about insurance. He was going to take a chance for any test drives etc. I told him to wise up and phone his insurance and see how much. £27 for three days was the price. That’s the option he took. He was able to extend it if he needed but thankfully the car sold in day one. He got a £10 rebate.
No insurance is 6 points and fine. But the insurance company will hit you ten times harder when you renew with a no insurance conviction.
