I've been in a Model S and really liked it. Interior quality felt miles better than most modern cars, even premiums.

Would it be fair to day Tesla look like souless generic film props from a dystopian future?
-
• #34954
Yep

Don't be silly, bikes go inside vehicles!
Anyway, why would you want to ruin the aerodynamics like that?
-
• #34956
They're very well designed to look like fairly nice expensive mildly-sportly saloons. Better than Lamborghini's spaceship-x-stealthfighter approach.
Not beautiful, just nice.

spaceship-x-stealthfighter
That's what I want in a car, TBH. Shame the price of entry is so ridiculous :(
-
• #34958
Nah, bit dickwavey.
I'd rather have a nice-looking Q-car.

I also saw this on RR. £3.5K. Very tempted

Can fit a tow hook to a Model S - http://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-s-torklift-central-ecohitch-review/

True. Looks fun on the driveway though!
I'm considering putting a deposit down on a Model 3, not sure what difference it will make at this stage however.

Interesting- but would need the electronic connector/harness to be legal here I suspect.

There's a lot of issues with the doors on the Model X. Now is not the time to be buying one.

Have a listen to this!

I'm sitting here laughing, that's immense.

Took the V50 to my trusted local garage today and set them loose on it. The AC regas was £50 and, as Dammit had suggested, the driver's side front wheel which had been losing pressure was as a result of corrosion, so they reconditioned it. They also took off all the wheels and removed the brake pads to isolate and fix the annoying squealing. This uncovered a damaged rear tyre, which I had replaced, and the fact that there was no grease at all behind any of the pads, so they applied all that. £272 inc VAT for all parts and labour.

A friend of mine has a Caterham powered by an RST-V8 made with 2 bike engine heads and barrels on a custom crankcase and crankshaft. Roughly 380bhp and 560kg. With a sequential box. He's crashed it quite a few times. He stuffed it into the side of a Norwegian mountain and took 3 of the 4 corners off, and aquaplaned on a Belgian motorway and took off both right hand wheels. Moisture was a major factor in both if I remember correctly. This is it:

I'm surprised it doesn't crash standing still.
-

Yeah - looks like he could use a little more wing on that. Or Traction control. Or restraint. Or all of the above. 380bhp in a 560kg car sounds bananas.
Man that engine sounds good. Hubba.

price dropped to £3k now

To be fair, he has also taken it on tours where we've done over 3,000 miles in a week and it's behaved itself perfectly. Both times he crashed he had his son in the car passengering. He's now known as 'Judas'. In fact, I can't actually remember what his real name is.

I think one of the main problems is actually too much tyre. He's got custom-made carbon rear arches and cyclewings, and runs 265 tyres at the back. Lots of grip in the dry, but they're semi-slicks and in the wet the tyre loading is so low, with the light weight of the car, that they don't disperse water and you can't get any heat into them.

• #34973
Tyre blankets and full wets in the chase car?
-
• #34974
Oh, and 380bhp in a 560kg car is bonkers, but not as bonkers as the chap with a 480bhp Cossie YB in a 600kg Westfield. He let me drive it once. Wheelspin on a dry road in 4th gear.

On tour the support vehicle is a 7.5 tonne truck with space for 2 cars in the back, so there would be plenty of space for them. I've taken a spare engine on tour before, albeit only a little 900cc ZX9R one.
Can be fitted with a tow hook for a bike rack.
