  • So, DT Swiss 190 hubs, ENVE rims and DT Aerolite spokes? I think expecting sympathy for the fact that they cost a bit might be rather ambitious...

  • 180's

  • Bah, bloody keys too close together. Big fat fingers.

  • I paid 132 for the rear hub, something of a bargain I thought.

  • And the fucking hub doesn't work. This is quite annoying.

  • should the wheel builder not have picked that up? :/

  • Not such a bargain then?

  • I think a fairly conservative assessment of my current mood would be "cross".

I paid the money I did to have the wheel ahead of leaving for my parents tomorrow.

Now I will be doing so with an unrideable bike, which is rather less than optimal.

  • Not such a bargain then?

The hub is fine, it's the new stuff supplied by the bike shop that's not working.

  • have you considered collecting stamps?

  • That does look like precisely the right sort of thing to spend £22k on.

I just need to get round to putting the gearbox back in my 914, so I can sell it to make room in the shed.

I really do think the Exige itch needs scratching.

  • Each to their own.

    (You're wrong tho)

  • Would you like to hear my 3200GT #csb?

    Great. Here goes:

My neighbour had one about 10 years ago, bought it off a main dealer for £18k with a year's warranty.

Within that year it had £17k worth of warranty work - new gearbox, various electrical things, engine work.

He sold it back to the dealer after 364 days.

  • Just to rub it in: I've just spotted my old GT3 has recently sold at 911 Virgin. 'Twas a great car. Guards red, proper club sport mk1. I sold it for £40k in 2012. I guess it's £65k's worth now. :(

  • I'd seen that car the other day - and yes, I would love one exactly like that.

  • Not exactly like it. They record the number of times they've hit the rev limiter, mine had reached the maximum recordable number - 65536 - in the first 10k miles.

Propa thrashed by the first owner.

  • If that'd stretched a rod or the timing chains it'd have made itself felt in the next 30,000 miles I assume?

  • That's what I reckoned. I wouldn't have bought it from the first owner but it had done 50k miles by the time I got it so was probably OK.

  • The direction that the price is going isn't reassuring - come on Brexit!

I'd really like an X51 Carrera Cup M96 - the parallel vehicle they made when evaluating the Mezger/GT3 program.

Would likely need to be the PowerUp version to get RHD of course.

  • Ha! I am a bit shocked that I am in agreement with Niall :)

  • The guy I bought my 911 from was selling it to pay for the work needed on his 3200

  • The guy I bought my 911 from was selling it to dodge a pending £6k bill

  • Possibly he had two motives. He did take almost that figure off the price.

  • lolz aside, I still think it was a good buy.

  • All you ever need to remember is "Dude, you own a porsche - cool!" and you didn't pay anywhere near what it cost new and once the work is done it'll drive 99.9% like new, if not better.
