  • Probably a stupid question, but why not just have a single length of hose?

  • Be a much better solution but no one makes such a hose.

  • How come you chewed through the hose with your teeth rather than trim it nicely with a stanley knife?

  • That's a question for Jim, I'll pass it on when I see him next.

  • It looks a bit like it used to be one hose before it was chewed in half.

  • I'll tidy it up a bit.

  • I'm guessing if it were one piece it would have no structure, therefore constantly flapping around the bay.

  • Spoke to the mechanic last night. He can't reproduce the issues with the merc, it drives perfectly fine when he's driving it. What is it with mechanics and everything suddenly starts working perfect when they're around? The car ran like shit when I drove it to the garage

  • Sounds like the NHS...

  • Aloooominum is also much lighter than silicone, so it's usually best to use as little silicone as poss, tho in this application that's not relevant.

  • Plastic is even betterer...

  • anyone ever bought a stereo from halfords and have them install it? surely they can't arse that up?

  • For xc60, if you gave to have one get a petrol or the 2.4 5 cylinder diesel, all the Ford 1.6 and 2.0 are garbage. Jist been reading on one that imploded on itself and ate main bearings at 35/40k despite full and proper service schedule adhered to. Not a rare thing to happen to them.
Would look at the big mazda soft roader thing, again steer clear of ford derived diesels in them, stay petrol.
Crv newer shapes with any engine are apparently excellent. Pricey as hold their value, so poss that cheapest to actually own,?

  • Are the diesels the 2.0 tdci?

  • Based on, mazda and volvo do different things to them. Mazda use that disastrous wet dpf system. And volvo are just killing top ends, oil starvation from a variety of causes. They aren't something I'd want outside of 3 years old, even then, volvo have dumped on this guy w with his blown 35/40k full history warranted car

  • Unless it says ford on it. Actual ford's seem to have very few problems! Weird eh

  • £1,292.37 to fix the brake servo and heated rear window. Hopefully I shall be offered a Nescafe when I turn up to collect.

  • Full total to date then?

  • Current list of new parts for the Wankerbarge so far: 4 tyres, 2 anti-roll bar drop links, 4 suspension arms and one rear damper. They hope that this will cure the clonking noises. Think I might win this month's top spot from @Dammit when the bill comes in.

  • Dunno, whatever I said last time in this thread, plus whatever I've just said.

  • @Danstuff
When my Avant hits 100k was thinking about a wankerbarge.
Driven an R6 on a track and the sound is just incredible but thinking of a slightly more economical S6.

  • Did they not suggest doing both rear dampers?

In for a penny and all that.

  • I might trump you both with a circa 2k bill on the Forester. Headgasket, water pump, timing belt, plugs, fluids, all the other gaskets, rear lateral links and drop links and all the bolts. Not a competition I really want to win tbh
