Oddly my Merc has it on the right and that's a) German and b) from 1990. The wipers are on the same stalk. And the lights. I think they got carried away.
That's a Merc 'thing'. Once you get used to it, hard to fault, amirite?
My '83 Datsun Stanza 1.6GL saloon (you heard me) had them on the right, loved it for one-armed motorway cruising.

IIRC there was only 1 convertible made and that was for the film. Also, Connery was so tall, they had to remove the seat so that he could get in it.

All early jap cars (I have had loads!) and aus cars are on the right. I prefer it.

So, have been using my Seesucker roof rack for about a month now, mostly for ferrying bike too and from races via work. I went for the mini bomber which takes two bikes.
After my initial worries and nightmares of bikes bouncing down the motorway in the rear view mirror, am now pretty confident in its suction power! Put in around 600/700 miles with bikes on the roof so far, including a trip up to Yorkshire for the Tour with zero issues....Super easy to take on and off too.....Looks pretty bad-ass an all.Fuel consumption takes a noticeable hit though!
Recommended for sure!

It would be interesting to compare the fuel consumption with that of a similarly-engined large estate that the bikes could go inside.

Oof.

Still gets better mpg than my old A4 TDI estate... Even with bikes on the roof!
And this car is at least 12 times more fun. -

Saw the pic of it on Facebook. Car manages to still look mega with the rack and bikes on!

New car has left the factory... should be with me in 10-14 days.
Excited!

Starting to think the racer may need stiffer springs. And more static negative camber at the front:

anyone been to blyton park?
-
• #20519
No but everything I hear says it's very airfield-y and not very racetrack-y
-
• #20520
yeah - oh well. first one where we get to take the b, the alfa, and the e30 on track at the same time.
in other news, firmer springs up front, new strackers and zorse and a rebuilt diff in the mgb - it sounds great. ready for the new engine now - woooo.

If cars could talk...
If that car could talk it would confirm what a massive cunt Cheggers is.
Was it designed as a left hand drive model? Or mainly sold in LHD?
Older British and Fairly recent Japanese cars were the right way round but I guess penny pinching accountants made them standardise on the parts that were fitted to the majority of markets. Rover swapped sides in 1981 for the SD1 facelift. The Rover 416 had them the wrong way round but the same car with Honda Concerto badges had them the right way.
The oldest car I have driven was a 1953 Daimler DB18 Consort. That had a chrome ring on the steering wheel that you turned. And originally had trafficators.
