I want a Sirocco. Test drove a TDI 177 R Line DSG at the weekend, and loved it.
Is there any good reason I should resist this temptation?Inside is a bit boring, but thats the only con i could come up with.
My dad has one (same spec)... It's lovely.
Sat nav / radio controls are shit compared to bmw but other than that, they've got loads of poke and feel great to drive.

From VW dealer. You'll have plenty of warranty then, potential DPF issues if you do a lot of short journeys but if you're mainly using it for longer journeys it should be OK.
VW seem to have a known issue with the DSG 'box. Could be pot luck if yours has an issue, but it should be warrantied if it becomes a problem.

I'm waiting to hear back from this guy:
http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/166826/1983-porsche-bronze-1850ono-kent#.U43x9vldV4Y
Rad. The guy who restored my camper had one in that colour rusted to buggery, covered in moss and bird crap that sat silly low. Got to drive it to do the shopping while I was staying there to work on the van.
Ran like a dream. -

The guy I spoke to about my DSG box said that the issues arise because people don't fill up the box with the correct fluid.
A little while ago it started to make some funny noises, but it was due a service so it went in. I service it every 3 to 4 months because the fluids just vanish into thin air.

I dunno. It's a hard car to love. Air and audio is not for me but I think it looks incredible, and the S54 engine!!

"I wanted a polished lip, so I put the car in the air and turned it into a 400hp lathe"
So much LOL.

Classic example of form over function. Heavy and redundant suspension kit so that you can slam your car to the deck. But only when parked. Congratulations, you've successfully turned your M3 into a less attractive and less functional Citroen DS.
And Hi-Spec brakes? Total PoS, and I speak from extensive personal experience.

A diesel always sounds like a diesel? And is not a car but a tractor?
I know you're all diesel haters but see what the Finns do with IDI Mercedes diesels.
The 3 litre OM606, as found in the fin de siècle W210 E Class rust buckets, pre- CDI, represents the zenith of oil burning tech. Not noisy if maintained.
The 177PS block will take 600 bhp, unmodified. Petrol me that... -
• #20188
But it will still sound and smell like a tractor, and smoke like a bus.
If you want 600bhp, buy an S600.

Oh, incidentally, The M104 can be turbocharged quite effectively. There's a Swedish tuner with 900bhp/980NM from his 300E-24.
http://www.turbobandit.com/shop/Diesel me that.

Ruined. Why take a great car and turn it into a clown car?

Mine's an inch lower than standard but I still have the original springs and it has an engine brace. That's all that's different.

Let's face it, most people don't race.
In fact the majority is spent showing off. (If it is any good)
That said.
I wonder who's would be faster on a timed lap?
:oP

The lump in mine needs a rebuild before it gets involved in any shenanigans like that. Besides, it's NEVER going anywhere near a track because of the amount of tits at track days.
It increases in value every year purely because everyone who owns one thinks they're Frank Sytner or Johnny Cecotto and manages to wrap theirs round a pole somewhere.

Modern diesels only smoke when something isn't right. With variable vane turbos and common rail you can control the inputs a lot better. A Volvo FH16 truck produces 700bhp and 3150nM but you hardly see them smoking now. They do make something like 5 fuel injections over a revolution to improve the burn.
-
• #20195
Over what rev-range though? I've got no argument with the power they produce, but it's within about 400 rpm then it's not nearly as useful as an engine that comes into boost at 3,500 and runs round the clock to 7,500.

Damn 924 owner hasn't got back to me.
-
• #20197
I thought you owned one of those?
-
• #20198
Yeah it's a total shitter and not road legal.
-
• #20199
Yeah the power band isn't that wide but the torque is nicely spread. Which is what you want for acceleration.
I still want a 944 but haven't got £3k spare

That's never stopped anyone from Essex before, has it?
I agree I think they look good.
Are you looking to buy brand new?
