  • Pick a car that you associate only with old people- a beige Honda, preferably diesel, then try that (Honda Civic maybe?), at you girlfriends address, with her, and her parents all named as drivers.

  • yeah, my mums honda jazz, in lilac, at my gf's address with my mum and gf has named drivers is £620

  • There you go then. Mind you, my mum has a Honda Jazz. She hates it.

  • fuckin manchester.

so whats the deal with putting a family members address down...?

  • Woah, that is crazy. Does that mean that you're not moving back down any more then?

My mum insured me on her old car now and I drove today for the first time in a year and a half after clocking up 13000 miles in my only year of driving. It was mega weird. To start with its an automatic and secondly, it's one of these Peugeot 1007s...

Such anti, but it's actually really handy plus I can't see the outside of the car from the inside. It's free for me, other than petrol and not having to change gears makes life so much easier. The lack of control doesn't bother me at all. It kinda feels like a go kart. Its great!

  • No i am moving back, but my gf may not be moving with me after all so we'll be long distance again for another year

man they are ANTI, foffa thread >>>>

  • Ha, you're telling me... More money to spend on bike parts is definitely not anti though :-)

  • fuckin manchester.

More low-risk drivers with more experience = lower premiums. You can keep adding people until it stops going down. The theory is, I suppose, that some of the time the car will be driven by safer drivers than you, and so it gets cheaper. Maybe the idea that it will also be driven to different places helps too.

  • And that if your parents expect to be able to occasionally drive in it, you won't modify it until it's unrecognisable and/or unsafe, or allow it to become dangerous. Your parents might also point out maintenance issues which would become safety risks if unaddressed.

  • Honda Jazz are awesome, what's to hate?

  • Does anybody here use a tracker? what would you recommend?
All these mini thefts recently have really started to make me worry, especially more and more occurring in London in the past few weeks.

  • There's nowhere to hide things in a Mini. I don't know how small a tracker is, but I'd assume it's easy to identify and remove in a car with so little in the way of electronics.

I'd start with a decent alarm immobiliser, an internal bonnet release conversion, and a Disklok to provide physical security and a visible deterrent.

Older cars are very easy to break into. Mini locks are completely unprotected and a bit shit, which makes them an opportunist's target too. Therefore making it look hard to steal and stopping them driving away is the priority.

  • Take the coil out/with you when you park the car.

  • secret ignition killswitch?

  • Dizzy cap rather than coil shirley?

  • Because it behaved so excellently over Christmas I have just dropped the Panzerwagen off at Automerc in North London to be treated to an inspection and service.
It's difficult to gauge how much money to spend on it. I think it's got the potential to fetch top money when I sell it if I can get the important jobs done at a good price, so I've asked them to investigate the likely cost in sorting the air-con out.

I think the m.o. for the thieves at the moment is to put them on a trailer, negating any visual deterrents or non-start methods. cut the hb cable and winch it onto a trailer. pull the tracker.

leave it in gear when you park it and make sure your insurance is spotless - life's too short.

  • Thus.

  • Hmm well I did just buy a very good immobiliser and alarm with central locking. I got a removable steering wheel hub so take the wheel off every night. I was thinking of putting a tracker in the void under the rear seat which is closed off by the speaker board...
Gonna start taking the rotor arm out when I'm leaving it for a long period out of sight

Just got a £100 fine for my plates...bummer
