  • Most places offer that, Evolve do as well. Trust me, those guys are very good at what they do. It will be tuned specifically for your car, and then you'll be provided with an OBDII tool to switch back to standard map.

    Their demo cars are ridiculous.

  • NH, what car are you going in? Convoy up there? In booked in but watching their trailer will I not get eaten alive by n24's and vx220s ....

  • Also going to ace cafe for mod n mini night... Will I get beaten up by a biker gang?

  • Nah, you're more likely to get beaten up by the Scooter crew pulling sick wheelies

  • Going in my MX5. Yeah we can convoy up, might be staying overnight near there as 3 hour trip for 07:00 start doesn't sound like fun to me.

You might be the slowest on the straights but it doesn't matter as Cadwell is very twisty and you don't need to worry through the corners. Also you'll be having fun so it doesn't matter about who is overtaking you.

Haha no you won't. There will be some weirdos, most of them will be the people I know who own new Minis.

Yeah I was thinking that going up the day before is a good plan! Will check out prices of b&bs

Thanks for the info. Still at the thinking about it stage but I may pull the trigger soon.

The mods are crazy. I don't know how they ride with the weight of so many mirrors.

I just think when you're buying stuff like that it's better to meet them, see their outfit, and know if there's any need to go see them again, you don't have to set aside a weekend to get there.

  • NH - I meant 1500 to finish the car, then add the bits. It's all about doing it in stages to fool the cash manager...

  • You should drive my barge- it's big, but it's got a bit of poke.

With better suspension it's a sub 8-minute Nurburgring car.

Miles too big. I couldn't afford the tyres/brakes. I want it as light and small as I can run.

I meant the youts that turn up on streetfighter night and burn it up on Gilera's and other modern scooters. It was like something out of Beyond Thunderdome when I went there!

  • V-L, tonight if you see this guy:

Definitely troll him by saying you'll be overtaking him at Cadwell.

He's usually flanked by these two:

There is that. When they open a formula that states "must have wardrobe in back" then- THEN - it'll be a contender.

  • @NH ok :P watching vids of the miglia guys going round Caldwell I recon ill be able to defo stay quick on the corners and there are only two longish straights so shouldn't be too bad!

  • Any Mercedes W123 fans within this thread?
If not, please ignore the photo of my sort of current project.

  • I'm a W123 fan! We had a lovely red 230TE when I was a kid and I remember it being a highlight of the family car history. My dad still regrets selling it!
    Whats the deal with yours?

It's a one owner car I picked up last year when I wasn't really looking for one. Had a 124, 202 and a 210, so fancied sampling the legendary pre- Daimler Chrysler design and build quality.
    It's a 240td with the OM616 that puts out....55 Kw!
But they can be 'tuned', by fitting an OM605/6 and some clever bolt ons = 600+ BHP; OH my!
    This, is really quite crazy.

You already have, with your Daimler-Benz W124.
Love W123s in all forms, though like most cyclists I perv over the S123 (Estate) the most. They're worth quite a lot here in CA, although practically every Diesel is being fed WVO or BioDiesel now. I'd prefer a petrol one myself.
An S124 with the 5.0 V8 in it would probably be my ideal tourer right now though.

    I used to have a W201 190E, I miss it terribly.

  • Drop an LQ4 in it, Chinese GT45, E85- wallop

  • The BlackSmoke Estate is incredible!

There was a original AMG 123 5.0L? wagon turn up on one of the US Merc forums. I expect you've seen that. Nice.

WVO doesn't do for any longevity, IME, even in IDI Merc engines. Seen someone kill a twin tanked W201 2.5.
All my cars for the past 5 years have run on finest B100, brewed "right here" in East London.

Stay in louth - I once got drunk and spent the night in a bus shelter there. Then cycled 20miles to Grimsby to get the train home in my new full motorbike leathers (to break them in for the next weekends race.)

Cadwell is awesome. If you don't run off the track at the gooseneck first time out, you're not doing it right!

    Have fun.

Right now I'm worried! Talking to a guy last night who rolled his classic mini on the gooseneck
Will do the first couple laps with diapers

That's one stylish motor. There's one parked at the other end of my road that I always liked.

You already have, with your Daimler-Benz W124.

    This.
I'm loving mine. Latest 'surprise and delight' discovery: heated windscreen washer fluid and nozzles.

There was one for sale in the US not so long ago, but it was a proper cut-and shut. They had taken a genuine 500E, sawn off the back and welded the estate rear on. Frightening. Why wouldn't you just transplant into a complete TE body?
