  • Never, ever underestimate the gullibility of the British public.

  • Watched Crossfire Hurricane on BBC Two.

First part ace. Genuinly talented group of individuals who had a sound.

Second part. Meh. Why would anyone pay to see a poor acoustic version of powerful music sung by what effectively is a retired tribute act?

How ironic was the absence of Satifaction?

  • Loose the, frankly, gash Mick & Ronnie airbrushing and stripes off that and I'd drive it.

a chrome-bumpered c3 roadster, with side pipes and a bug catcher? i'd drive it if it was pink!

seriously, though, why would someone do that to such a beautiful car?

  • Personal taste.

I thought that the second part was pretty good, especially the bit about Altmont.

  • Drove to Leicester this morning, used 40 litres of super unleaded to do so thanks to this little fellow:

The car had some company whilst it was being attended to:

Leicester back to home took 18 litres of fuel - thanks to a fresh set of injectors and Lambda sensor.

  • Any details on the Cobra?

  • 427 cubic inch Ford engine, Jag running gear, GRP body.

Looks good, makes an awesome noise, not the real thing.

  • Looks good enough. Surely there can't really be that many "proper" or "original" ones left?

  • I'd be less worried about pranging this one than a real one, but it'd still be an expensive situation to find oneself in.

My mechanic had a box full of billet compressor wheels.

He reckons 400 at the flywheel if we upgrade my existing turbine with the 19T compressor housing and one of these wheels.

  • kit cars have come on a long way. i remember many years ago looking at a porsche 911 replica. at 300 metres it looked convincing at 10 metres it looked embarrasing.

  • Ah, like those horrific Toyota MR2's that people attempted to dress up as Ferrari 355's?

  • they fooled their best mates friend who wasnt into cars

i didnt know about the ferrari toyota thing so i googled and found this

  • That's a terrible effort.

    Not yours - that conversion.

  • In other news, I saw a Nissan GTR obliterate a Lambo Reventon away from the lights earlier on.

The pair of them were looking super twitchy prior to the lights changing and before the Lambo driver had lifted his foot off the brake, the bloke in the Nissan was already in the middle of next week.

V just looked at me and said "How the fuck did that happen? That's a Lamborghini..."

I didn't bother explaining what that Nissan can do.

i am pretty sure there were 998 made (mk1-3) (i have a sweet book on cobras and can remember that number for some reason), but there were loads of 'continuation' cars made after the rights were sold on. a continuation car is still 80-100k. mk1-3 cars are stratospheric, and probably all racers now.

  • Got to admire the balls of someone who actually races a car that rare, and of that value.

Although it would be interesting to establish what percentage of the drivers overall value/wealth the car represents I suppose.

  • Look at the SHINY

    Got to admire the underwriters.

  • ^^ Moar boost?

  • Indeed, as you say, MOAR.

Apparently the upgraded turbo would pop my current intercooler, which sounds funnier than it probably is in reality.

This was built by the chap working on the Cobra replica:

Red Victor 2 wheelstand - YouTube

  • Is that an R32 vs Victor?

I saw an R32 today. Do want. They'll probably be a classic by the time I can afford the insurance on one.
