  • It lives! Drove back 80 whole miles from Andover without a hitch then spent a couple of hours cruising around in traffic to let the EFI tune itself a bit.

....One small hitch. 100squid in superunleaded today. Now skint.

  • I'm expecting to be picked up SOON!

  • Welcome back, Sir!

  • Congrats Jung! Hoping to see pictures soon!

  • My car should be on the road about a week before I go.

    Great.

  • This one is cool

Spanking Cosworth lump, shiny new internals, shorter stroke so more revs, Garret GT35/40R, not sure how much boost and loooong cams.
    All of this = 700bhp at 9300

  • Looking good!

I did two short-ish industrial design contracts, and now I'm off to do a Master's in industrial design. After that, I'm going to New Zealand for a few years (fiancée has a job offer there... so it's possibly a permanent relocation)... so in terms of a career, I have no idea. Hopefully something to do with design or some other physical problem-solving, and hopefully something to do with bicycles or alternative transport.

    What about you?

Me. I've been working in cgi for teh architecture industry for too many years. Problem is nothing else pays in this god forsaken country. God speed on your journey, don't settle for less than expected and never rest on your laurels. (surf lfgss) ;o)

  • BBS centre caps.

    €125 each.

    Fuckin' stroll on...

    yours been stolen too?

If only that sign said "Porsche quality is your job" the company might be in a lot better shape these days.

Lamborghini used to (and still may) have a sign at the end of the quality control section that said something like "The next inspector is the customer. Make sure he is satistfied"

That's very impressive. I take it there's lots of stripping and rebuilding.

  • No more than any other race car really. Still on the original YB block after 11yrs. Power has gradually increasing over the years.

  • yours been stolen too?

Not scoused, but fallen to bits as a result of exposure to the elements.

  • How much would it be to get a car resprayed? I'm very tempted to buy a Volvo 850 and make it extremely 90's drug dealer chic.

Also, are they going to batter me (23) with insurance for a 20 year old 2 litre? My Harley costs fucking loads and I couldn't afford another big outgoing like that.

  • Not too sure on the car, but at 23 you're too young to own a Harley.

  • Depends on the 850.

They came in a number of different engine and gearbox configurations, from slow to quite fast- and the insurance groups reflect this.

Use some of the online comparison sites for some insurance quotes.

Bear in mind that the faster versions are group 19- so a £500 T5 might cost £2,500 to insure for a year.

Just getting my mid-life crisis purchases out of the way while I'm young enough for skin grafts to take. Plus, it's only a dinky one, 883cc

Depends where you go. I'd expect to pay at least £2k for a decent job.

    rattle-cans ahoy!

  • Oz, how much does your mate charge (approx) for vinyl wrapping a car?

Morgan- have a look at this: https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php

  • And re 850: get a manual T5, you should look to spend around £500.

The "check engine light" will be on as (unless you get very, very lucky) the piston rings will be leaking and the engine will be burning oil.

  • I think for a plain single colour wrap it's around £1500^. Material costs are high so if you have an 850 then it's going to cost a bit more.

Have you ever seen a T5 without the engine light on complaining about the most minor of issues then retarding the map?
