  • Nothing like a Jensen to cheer an old (ish) guy up.

  • That Jensen is using the AWD system out of the Mustang I posted up the page

  • Yep. Found out there's a couple of those in Cwmbran, about 15mi from me

  • Dammit, have you signed up for Brighton Speed Trials??

    Entry 12..

    Also, who's up for it?

  • as long as SWMBO hasn't got any plans for me I'd be well up for going. Always wanted to see it!

    Also, who's up for it?

Hah- that's Russel Thomson of RT motors, he's a bit of a joke in Volvo circles.

He built that T5-R to be a demo vehicle for his garage, and has been at the speed trials for a few years running- and getting slower each time.

He's running a garrett GT35 I think it is, at ~28PSI, so has heroic lag, then 534 horsepower for maybe 500 revs, then he's got no power again.

Try putting that through the front wheels and getting a good time.

He's been thoroughly beaten in terms of 1/4 mile times by a chap who built his 850R in his shed in Sevenoaks, and has a much smaller turbo- 30/76 I think he had on his car.

Russ is also renowned for forgetting to make cars oil tight after working on them, resulting in engine destruction, and charging a Rapha-esque amount of money for it.

  • Well he certainly sounds like he needs our support.

  • I'd be up for going anyway, should be a laugh- riding down or driving?

  • Parking will be a pain as well as the traffic.

  • Just realised the missus had already planned for us to go to Brighton that day with friends who are from there so we've already booked tickets. I can sense me leaving them to it as soon as we get there and them doing their own thing whilst I watch cars!

  • Gut buster breakfast from the market diner.

  • I'll have a slice of this. I wonder if the M-tree will be ready...

  • Check out the 2L X1/9 and the GTV.....greatestest sounding V6.

  • I need an X 1/9 Dallara in my life.

  • No one could be that silly.

  • He didn't say for how long.

  • As long as it runs for or as long as it spends in the garage?

  • They say that the X1/9 divides people into two camps. You are either an X1/9 owner and glad of it, or an ex-X1/9 owner and glad of it.

  • No one could be that silly.

    'au contraire'

Would the Fiat Coupe inline turbo 5 fit in an X1/9?

  • I need an X 1/9 Dallara in my life.

Hence the idea of the 2L bi turbo v6 mas engine mated to a compact six speed box so you get equalish drive shafts

Also the dallara is longer than the normal x.

  • Would the Fiat Coupe inline turbo 5 fit in an X1/9?

I once saw a Cadillac V8 shoved into an X1/9, so I assume so :)
