Hire one?
Don't buy one made from a caravan chasis.
I'd also be wary of a home made one without the load rating.

Note that the ramps would need to be quite long it the car is 'dropped' to stop it grounding.

Just tilt the trailer and then get BRM to sit on the towing end whilst Dammit reverses the tank up to it.

Lynx- Good point.
B&D- would need to look at approach/departure angles, which I suspect on an MX-5 are not the same as a Landie -

B&D- would need to look at approach/departure angles, which I suspect on an MX-5 are not the same as a LandieOh and winch would be nice, especially electric is nice as winding a handle is a pain. Oh and ratchet points that are strengthened as going over bumpy ground, broken roads can bend the trailer bed as the car moves. Learn from others' mistakes.
How big are the wheels? Find out if its braked and what the suspension units are, usually inderspension, what they are rated for. Also find out if smaller wheels will reduce the high of the trailler.
Also no jockey wheel. Stabillisers on the corners are handy too as they stop the trailler pulling on the tow bar up and down.

Single wheel is easier.
