Anyone off to Fluff fest this year? The lineup isn't that great but there's a few bands I'm excited to see. I'm mostly looking forward to chugging a load of beers with all my euro pals in a big fuck off pool.

Pretty much everything they've released to be honest, I'll look into those other bands now and I love ACxDC, shame they haven't done anything for a while... not sure if they're even a band anymore!

AcxDc are still active. Just no new music for a while now.

I've heard people compare the new State Falls record to more recent Loma Prieta. I'm not personally into either but might up your street!
-
• #606
Cool, I'll look them up as well!

• #607
Fingers crossed new music soon then

current new releases i am enjoying:
seeyouspacecowboy - it's like 2006 met 2019 and i am HERE FOR IT
portrayal of guilt - excited to see what they're like live next week!
rorcal - only heard one track so far off the new record but YAAAS -

I quite like SYSC but I get the impression they're morons. One of their members was outed as an abuser and whilst they kicked the offending person out, they didn't seem to deal with the backlash very well, along the lines of "get over it". They also spent a lot of time calling people out for not being DIY enough and then signed to a major label/booking agent as soon as they possibly could and left their DIY credentials behind. Maybe I'm just being pissy though. And there's no denying some of their tunes are sick as fuck.
In a similarish vein, the latest .gif from god record is bonkers. Really over the top. Members of Ostraca (who are also excellent)

Someone sent me a link to Blind Girls the other day. Really enjoying it! Mathy, chaotic, metallic screamo stuff with a drummer that makes me think I should probably just not fucking bother anymore, ha ha. Excited to see them at Miss The Stars next year.
https://blindgirls.bandcamp.com/I'm not a huge fan of Portrayal of Guilt tbh, it's all a bit too polished sounding on record. I haven't seen them live but have heard they're excellent from people who also don't rate them on record!
Will check Rorcal out! -

Anyone planning on going to Miss The Stars next year? I didn't go last year but the lineup next year is looking pretty good so far and both my bands are playing so it'd be pretty rude not to go.

I have a large collection of old hardcore cds- bands like converge, some girls, as I lay dying, poison idea, kids near water- anyone interested in buying them?
-

when i moved i did a huge clearout of cds, tapes and vinyl - most of the cds went on ziffit, but there are lots of other similar services. failing that somewhere like flashback records might possibly take them?
@ltc the lineup this year was superb, who's your other band apart from cady? i think it's already sold out (again!) right?
i agree with both your points btw - PoG is super cleanly produced which always struck me as a bit weird, but it makes me smile nonetheless. i didn't know they had moved from holy roar to a much bigger label now until a couple days ago. i also didn't know what you mentioned about SYSC but i really can't say i'm surprised (why is anything to do with mosh almost always wrapped up in someone being an asshole?!) (apart from the blessed pat flynn)
never heard of gif from god, thanks for that! it's got a little bit of everything haha. the blindgirls record was mastered by will killingsworth - of course i love it! great shout.
my rorcal recommendation: https://youtu.be/qVmwdu3zNYA?t=1053
dunno if BM really fits in this thread but whatever. skip to 14:00 -

I was gutted I missed it, had too much other stuff on this summer. Would have loved to have seen Soul Glo.
My other band is Komarov, stupid metallic screamo/ very blatant Battle Of Wolf 359 rip off band. We've not done much for the last couple of years but getting some new stuff written and touring around MTS with Plague Walker next year!
https://komarovband.bandcamp.com/album/komarovWill Killingsworth seems to have mastered loads of really good screamo stuff, I guess screamo nerds probably just love having someone from Orchid have to listen to their band, ha ha.

Will give Rorcal a proper listen when I get a minute. The 30 seconds I just squeezed in sounds decent!

The new renounced record absolutely bangs.

will killingsworth is like the kurt ballou/godcity of screamo, i'm definitely guilty of giving things more of a chance if they back some connection with it.
i'm too sick to go to the touche amore/deafheaven/portrayal of guilt show now so if anyone wants the ticket, hmu! i cba to go to camden to stand around feeling awful just to watch PoG and go home again
