A friend of mine has just released a discography tape for the band I used to play drums in. It's pretty much just our EP plus some raw as fuck (terribly recorded) stuff from a couple of splits etc. You can have a listen below. For fans of dodgy/fast/heavy screamo.

Does anyone know any good punk/hardcore gigs happening in New York this weekend please? Thought it could be something fun to do while I'm over there for a few days...
Googling seems to bring up lots of listing websites that aren't very useful..

OT: Drummer for screamo band wanted, ANYONE?!
Very nascent London screamo band need drummer. Usual influence suspects: La Q, Ampere, Cloud Rat et al. Mostly 'Euro'-style but some blasting ability would be advantageous.
Looking for frequent-ish practises around central.
PM on here if interested. -

Youth Avoiders and Good Throb at the Black Heart tonight, punk enthusiasts?
Also there is a whole weekend of p good stuff coming up, including a decent friday night at Power Lunches and Coke Bust playing a squat in Tottenham on Sunday. If anyone wants to ride up to see CB I would be well in to it.

Definitely heading up to Tottenham on Sunday- The Challenging Behaviour weekender is a super strong line-up and the Power Lunches show tomorrow is pretty awesome too but alas I'm at a wedding

Do you know what time Coke Bust are playing on Sunday? I doubt I'll be back from Herne Hill in time :-(

Are you into hardcore form the 80s? Black Flag, Minor Threat etc?

Oh wow- another thread where Jeez is essentially creating an issue out of nothing and arguing with himself

What do you reckon this is:

For me that's a textbook example of uk hardcore. It's roughly what hardcore is nowadays, most of the 'screamo' stuff on here is more or less similar to that, or at least closer to that than what hardcore used to sound like.

I made a statement which expressed a personal opinion. It is an issue to me, it is only an issue to anyone else if they choose to reply. And I am not arguing with anyone.
Were you to come into the thread and say 'The last few bands that have been talked about on here don't really do it for me- does anyone like 80s hardcore?' and post a video of something like SSD I imagine your post would be met with universal approval.
The sentiment is exactly the same, the outcome more effective (we would know what you like rather than what you don't)

I think screamo and hardcore/punk go hand in hand. Particularly with bands like Orchid or Pg.99 where in terms of their sound they're right on the dividing line. But more importantly I think that the communities behind both are really strongly linked, in terms of their identification as a DIY community as well as the ethics and mindset behind it. I guess that's the difference between comparing screamo to more straight up hardcore and Black Sabbath to blues. In my experience as part of the DIY hardcore/punk/screamo/whatever community, genre sub divisions don't really seem that important. Anyway, Jeez, why don't you start posting some stuff you're listening to at the moment? It would be nice to have a bit more variety in this thread!

I've got no problem with Jeez's post, bar the whininess.

I get what Jeez is saying, personally Id love it if this thread was just non stop NYHC like cro-mags and leeway but I also appreciate that hardcore means different things to different people. I really don't like power-violence but I can see how its relevant to this thread so I accept it and move on and post some Merauder to compensate haha.
Speaking of Merauder

I'm kind of with Jeez on this one, but not mad about it. Definitely would like to see some more straight up hardcore on this thread, there's a shit load of good stuff in the UK at the moment, and over-seas.
In other news, the Black N Blue Bowl (the show that Judge did their first reunion shows at last year in NYC) are announcing their line up for this years show tonight on East Village Radio. I have my fingers crossed for a Beyond reunion.
Jay Reatard died four years ago today... RIP, you crazy bastard...
