Mooks didn't 'go off on one'; his post was considered and measured, as his posts tend to be. Again, congrats on patronising him. Seems to me that, finally, one of the people on here who finds this thread unpleasant spoke up with their objections and clearly he has some support. If that is silly then...
I hadn't actually noticed you had written a response beyond the . because of the quote fail.
You appear to be selectively reading my posts, I had raised objections ages ago to the thread direction the thread was going in.
My point about mooks post was that if you're bothered by the existence of something, then life is going to be tough. You can't do much about the existence of something unless you want to eradicate it, and on a forum that is censorship. I can live with the existence of anything, whether I agree to it or not... because I find censorship to be the worse of the two evils.
I thought that my paraphrasing of Voltaire later in the post made that clear... it's not that I disagree with mooks general sentiment about the direction of the thread. But as I'm not going to be censoring the forum it does seem utterly pointless to allow yourself to get worried too much about it.
It's taking things way too seriously to be worried by the existence of something, it's just a thread on a forum on a site on the internet, and I've already suggested that if people are bothered then perhaps having the antithesis thread to highlight how boys might feel about being treated as objects could be one of many things to show your disapproval.
I hate writing posts like this, because it sounds like I give a fuck when actually I don't... because I prefer to just enjoy the forum than get wrapped up in these tedious debates. I should probably just Godwin the thread and bung you on ignore, it's always the easier option.

She didn't do that shoot... it's a photoshop.
From the Flickr page:
"After sending Justin a few pics of girls and bikes from a calander shoot Justin exclaimed "just get real babe photos then photoshop bike ontop". Well here is the result of what he did LOL ........ i am a bit speechless "And this is the original shot of the bike:

Was it his post 'I've had a pretty good week parts-wise - my 1980s single bolt Dura Ace stem arrived - which looks so good I did a bit of a sex-wee after I put the bar tape on.' ?
Or was it his seminal thread: Rate my chainline ?https://www.londonfgss.com/thread10074.html
I don't know what's worse - the fact that you've confused my having respect for women with a lack of a sense of humour, or that you trawled through my posts/threads looking for something to maybe undermine what I've said.

what i find so funny is that women object to these photos, yet they are in them, which means that a female indorsed the photo in the first place? i doubt all these photos with women in are forced by gunpoint

blimey Nosferatu, not wanting to sound patronising, but that's quite a naive viewpoint.
Are all the women on this forum in the photos?

Damn impressive, on a cursory look you can't see it a photoshop job.

Hi Mooks, no confusion, I have no doubt that you respect women, have a great sense of humour AND are one of the 'smartest, most thoughtful people on the forum'.
Read my post again, it wasn't directed at you. -

I think you also need to consider that this has an impact on men as well as women - as a man, I don't appreciate the suggestion that's rammed down my throat every time I watch TV, go into a newsagent or even go out for a drink, that all I want to see is a big-breasted beauty taking her clothes off. It does a disservice to me, and it does a disservice to all the girls who unfortunately have to grow up thinking they have to get their baps out to get anywhere in life.
Some women have chosen to exploit that by earning a lot of money taking their kit off - fair enough - but it's a shame that we appear to live in a society where the attitude is that that's acceptable behaviour.

If there was a "glossy blokes on bikes thread" (I might start one just for the hell of it) and there wasn't this thread on the forum, I seriously would not give a monkeys.
If there was a "Sexy Gays Blokes on Bikes thread" I seriously wouldn't give a monkeys either.
I wouldn't want to look at either of thread given their titles so I DON'T.

Wait a sec, I thought it was the women who were exploited. Now I find out that they are the exploitees, and it is the general underlying attitude that is exploited. Who am I meant to be feeling sorry for here? The attitude? Or the impact this has on the poor men. I'm confused.
(sorry snarky post. this does confuse me though)

That's not what equality is about, Lucas. It's about being treated with dignity and respect, and not feeling as if you have to behave or look a certain way to feel valid.

Mooks, I now understand why your avatar is a pair of glasses, clearly it's because you struggle to read properly. Once again, read my posts, I said nothing about you. What I did was quote your own words and the compliments paid to you by others. You are, of course correct, no-one should attempt to make you 'look like an arse' especially when you do such a fine job yourself. Generally.

I struggle to see how a couple of posts in isolation provide conclusive evidence of my being an arse, however point taken - I shall now make a concerted effort to remain po-faced and humourless.

can't believe I'm replying to this. this is the worst idea I've ever had.
wouldn't it be nice if it was a bit less male dominated? or do you not like girls and bikes? oh wait, you do. but only with no clothes on. OK.
it's just kinda lame. I've met quite a few girls who used to post on this forum who don't anymore because they're fed up with the lame sexist bullshit all the time. I imagine they don't bother telling the men that, because you get the magnificent 'yeah but you're just jealous' (yeah cos we don't see pictures of naked women all the fucking time) or 'stop being such a man-hating feminist lunatic' (my personal favourite).
SO in conclusion: tags are probably not just people having a laugh. (it wasn't me by the way, I don't know how you add tags.)
hanyway I have the thread on ignore, so whatever; it was just brought to my attention that someone was taking a revolutionary stand so I thought I'd rock up and talk some feminism at you.
But I love you all, you sexist bastards.
Ha! Go member 18!
repped!
I'm all for sexy pix of women/men on bikes (I might have even taken a few), but it's all about context.
The conversation about sexism is often like the conversation about porn vs. art, you sort of just know when it's one or the other.
I don't know of any women who would be offended by the photos here, it's more about the context of the comments and atmosphere created around them. This forum seems to have less and less space for differing opinions or people challenging the status quo (which has also been reinvented it seems), so it's nice that people like tricity are still willing to stand up and others are encouraging and appreciative of that.
you go, lil lady! ;)
