There's a big yellow cage we play in, there will be some shouting and maybe a few beers being drunk, should be pretty easy to find!

Hi I have this wheel I bought off of a chap on here:-
http://www.lfgss.com/thread100673.html
I haven't put a tyre on it or ridden it since buying as I've decided I prefer one with a track hub and nuts.
Yours for 25 nicker, what I paid for it. -

54cm 531 raleigh
I've just built up a Raleigh but with gas pipe steel :-) Curious to know if this has gone/what it looks like?
-
• #4638
Its sort of a mottled white and baby blue, a bit scratched and peeling decals but no dents or dings and it rides lovely it also has mudguard eyelets.
I was planning to keep this and turn it into a polo bike but could be persuaded to part with it as I have something else I could use. there are some pics in my profile of the bike, they are crappy but they give you an idea of how it looks. If you would like to see it in person that can be arranged.

If you turn it into a polo bike it'll soon get bent and have loads of dings!! What flavour 531 is it? C,t, st,db? Forks 531?just the Main triangle or stays too? Gas pipe is possibly better as a first polo bike cos you'll soon wanna get something better.

No idea about flavour and what bits are made of 531, it just has orginal 531 decals on and is fairly light. I am not that bothered about it because I was trying to shift it for under £50 and nobody would take it so I don't care if it gets trashed to be honest. I also have another beater frame, which is really light (possibly 753) but has a huge dent in the top tube and is ratty as hell, I can use that for polo as it is slighly better fit. It does have a tight front end and toe overlap though... i dunno, if i get an offer on either I have to shift one...

Anyone got an old 115mm-ish square taper BB knocking about for little to no money?
-
• #4642
By old do you mean the type with loose balls, cups, spindle and a lockring? If so I've a shimano one. If you need it quick get one elsewhere as I'm not home til a week after the Bristol tourney.
-
• #4643
No, not that old, old as in they don't need it anymore, but some kind of sealed jobby until I save up the £20 for a UN55, I guess I could pinch a loose ball one from work if I'm desperate, but as it's for the baby bike which only gets ridden a mile in the morning I might just get up 10 minutes earlier this week.

Anyone got a dirt cheap / freecycle wheelset or individual wheels kicking about? Set myself the challenge of building a ss/fixed bike on a super tight budget of £60.
-
• #4645
I'd spend the whole £60 on the wheels :-/
-
• #4646
The £60 is for everything including frame! It's going to be a challenge indeed!
-
• #4647
On that budget you're looking at lucky eBay snipes for stuff you can ride to collect.

or salvaging parts from abandoned bikes. (of which I know a couple)

Salvaged a few bits from a bike near mine which has been there over 2 years but somebody already got to the wheels haha

or stealing parts from publicly stored bikes. (of which I know a couple)
ftfy, how do you know the place where it'd locked isn't just the nearest place to someone's house?
There is a process to go through if you want to claim an actually abandoned bike, you'll need to leave a note on it and notify the council, it saves them sending a team out to remove it so as far as I know they usually don't mind, although I've not spoken to anyone who's done this.
