  • no, you tripped me up :)

  • SWIM tried Champix for quitting once. SWIM shan't lie, it did reduce the urge to light up. however it also gave SWIM relentlessly vivid dreams of the twisted psychedelic variety, completely in lieu of any useful sleep.

SWIM quit the NHS designer crack and embraced his Golden V once more, through tears of joy.

  • 10 days.
    Fuck you nicotine.

  • Made it 16 days,
    gonna spark up to celebrate!

  • day two.....here we go again

  • good luck man, me too!

  • Guys, anyone needs Nicorette cartridges for the lil' filter thingy?
I have two boxes left over.

  • Gave up 5 yrs ago when my wife got pregnant.Did the HTFU method.
Every now and then I miss it for a second, but have never regreted it.
I have a stash of cigars for celebrations.
    Good luck with it.
Everything tastes so much better after a few months

  • keep getting excited every hour, deep in my belly, cigarette time.
wanna stick to it this time, keeping well away from horatio

    Bullshit

Good call... Horatio (and Gabes) tripped me up last time... And you tripped yourself up, remember threatening to buy your own fags unless I gave you one outside the John Snow last year? Tsk, tsk, tsk... ;]

    Bullshit

I think in Murtle's case, I probably didn't know you had quit (and you asked for a fag). In Joe's case, he's just senile. In general I refuse to give out smokes to people trying to quit.

4 days mother fuckers. I went three weeks a few months ago. This quitting shit is easy.

    (or hard).

  • ha
i have gave up every monday for the last 3 weeks :)

  • bah - struggling…

patches just give me the horrors, had to cut them into quarters to use them.

Stopped smerking after 15 years of a pack of Marlboro reds a day, just went cold turkey and was off the gaspers for two years, didn't even think about starting again then did me back in and had a bit of green to help me sleep - straight back on 'em

This time seems a lot harder as I know there's a potential to fail even after a period of time

  • Mine's a similar story to yours, Wayne. Smoker, quit for a couple of years, stepped onto the slippery slope without realising, and back to being a smoker.

Quit again over a month ago. So far, so good.

    Best of luck.

  • well done, Sam

  • I'm just over a week in, using patches. I'm a real smoking enthusiast, smoke 15-20 with the first one immediately after getting out of bed. I've had to give up because of dental work, but figure if I can do the 2 weeks the dentist orders then I might as well keep going.

Despite the NRT I'm getting horribly moody. The slightest thing makes me incredibly angry and I struggle to keep myself together. This mood will last for hours (just about all day today) and wont shift. I've succumbed a couple of times but even having a ciggie doesn't make me feel better and, encouragingly, tastes horrible.

Anyone else have these moods? I'm wondering if it's worth it in all honesty.

  • Dude, buy an inhalator and some cartridges and use that with the patches... Made all the difference to me, nothing else has ever worked, I thought I was a lost cause... Do it...

  • Sweet, will give that a go for the extra boost. I've got some lozenges, they'll do it. Only trouble is, when I have a ciggie whilst wearing a patch I have to go for a poo immediately. Hope this doesn't have the same effect.

    now spending 12 quid a day :)

  • now spending 12 quid a day :)

You're not wrong. Why make these fucking things the same price as smoking fags? Swindling bastards, can't believe they're subject to the same duty as cigarettes are they?

Apparently they're free if you go to the quacks and agree to go to counselling sessions with a heap of other irritable insecure smelly fucktards.

    I'll pay the money thanks.

  • anyone else get a permanent metallic taste with the patches

and no, I'm not chewing them before one of you knobbers pitches in…

  • I never got the metallic taste, Wayne... That's strange, I did get some crazy dreams tho'...

@ Murts and bombcup: Go to your GP and see the smoking cessation nurse, you'll either get free NRT or pay the prescription charge... £7.20 for 2-3 wks supply of patches/inhalator cartridges... Cheap as chips...

  • I've got a stack (literally a stack) of boxes of the inhalator cartridges, free to anyone that wants them.

I gave up almost a year ago now -end of this month actually is the anniversary- due to dental work, and I'm now very glad I did.

The inhaler really does work, takes the edge right off the fag anger, and gives you something to do with your hands etc.

  • I will gladly take those off your hands Neil

  • I had stopped for a week then Stevensons started dropping like flies

  • I'll stick them in the bag.

Didn't think of that.... actually as Mrs BC is pregnant I'll get her to pretend she smokes and defo get it for free. [/tight bastard]
