I went to a hypnotist to stop smoking - that was 3 years ago, and after 1 session I haven't smoked, or thought about smoking since. No pain, no coughing up massive thick green gob, no recovery period, just suddenly a non-smoker. Cost me 120 quid. Could be a pain free instant option for you. You have to want to quit though otherwise it won't work. Good luck with it.

The last one ever, 11pm last night... If you see me smoking (or even thinking about it) you have permission to smack me upside the head... Your arses are mine on the track next year!
Thanks for all the words of encouragement... :D -

Thanks for all the words of encouragement... :DWell done. Keep it up. It will be difficult but just remember that however horrid it feels, it will get better and if you start smoking again you will have to go through this torture all over again.

...good luck mate, if it don't work out give hypnosis a go (zero torture)!

I quit at new year. I have also given up drinking for January and this has helped more than anything. I know from bitter experience that it's the booze which brings on the cravings the most. I am absolutely clucking for a drink but I hope that a month off will go some way to breaking the association. If you expect to feel a lot better straight away, don't: I coughed more shit up after my morning commute than when I was on the tabs. Week 3 is better. Do it.

The less time you spend with smokers the easier it is to quit.
Sounds stupid, but it worked for me (smoked for 8 years)
Good luck. Do it!

ive recently massivly cut down. used to smoke about 30~ rollies a day, now on about 5-10, if that. i started to notice that after years of smoking that im not realy enjoying it anymore. i hardly ever finish my fag and after rolling im never really sure if i actually want to smoke it. i often find myself rolling without really deciding that i want to smoke, and just doing it becuase thats what i normaly do in that scenario.
with that said some percy on saturday led me to chain smoke for hours.
im under no illusion that i can just give up, but i thnk i can curb the habit so it has minimal impact on my life. i think i might kick the rollies altogather, and only toke herbal jazz cigerettes a couple of days a week.

I dont know if anyone has said this but I am really eager to tell you yes fantastic quit smoking. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE CHAMPIX. My whole family used it and so did two of my best friends. It makes you numb. Sure you don't have cravings but you are also really depressed. And not even having a cigarette or thinking of a cigarette makes it better is what they all told me in just as many words. There are better ways to quit. It also made most of them have night terrors, really realistic, fucks up your whole day kind of things.
on a better note. I quit smoking too, and it is a fantastic idea. Everything becomes easier, and you realise eventually how much time you waste standing outside smoking whilst everyone else is inside ha

Have done exactly the same. No drink so far and feeling flipping great. No hacking cough cycling up the hill in the morning and dropping the booze has made it far easier. It is fucking boring at times but I feel pretty good. And am felling better day by day. Haven't missed a meal since start of January and that's a first too. Am thinking of staying off the booze on through Feb as am saving a fortune.
Good luck with it all. Cycling is loads more fun when your lungs work.

What you have to remember is as with all prescribed drugs some are more suitable with people and not to others.
i was informed that zyban was orignally used as an antidepressant and champix was used as a dieting pill. i have used both with no adverse side effects, champix i must admit proved better for me.
if you suffer with depression neither tablets should be used and this will be made quite clear to you by a nurse or gp, along with the side effects if you continue to smoke when your dose is raised to 2 tabs per day, this can make you quite ill.
there are many aids out there now so you have a choice, id say give them a chance especially if zyban worked for you as champix are twice affective.
regular monitoring is usual practice at my gps whilst on these tablets so i would presume this is usual practice everywhere.
good luck -

I quit after 20 years when the ban came in. I decided that if I was not going to be allowed to have a fag where and when I wanted (i.e. in the pub) then I would not enjoy it. That was it, I was a non smoker, full HTFU style. It helped that I did not often smoke at home as unless my girlfriend was away I would go outside and I just couldn't be arsed that often. It also helped that I removed as much stress as I could from my life. I had just settled into a great job and paid off all my debts, so I was able to cope with life's blows without getting overwhelmed and turning to chemical help.
I knew immediately I would not become a smoker again. I have had maybe 20 in the 2 years since, on stag dos, due to the massive amounts of booze I suppose, but never started up again. I doubt I would have even the stag do fags nowadays.
I don't miss it, didn't after two or three weeks really. I started to find the smell of it on others really noticeable and unpleasant, and even the smell of people smoking outside in the open air became irritating to my nose, so I guess I'm not likely to relapse! I did miss cigars, which I had really enjoyed, but I've not had any since cos I guess its best not to smoke anything. Pubs were tricky at first but not for long. Poker nights were really difficult - I used to chain smoke during a game, so I stopped playing poker for about a year. It's OK now though.
Go with it. stick with it. You'll not regret it.
And don't replace it with chocolate like I did. I put on a bloody stone.
I swallowed all of Alan Carrs hype five years ago and havent looked back. I also tried to apply the same logic to attracting and seducing beautiful women but just kept getting slapped in the face, and my wife got really pissed off too.
I also started to get fit (I was 38) and ran everywhere, which seemed to help get all the shit out of my chest. when my knees started to breakdown from too much running I brought a bike....
I recall it was 'easy' now, but I dont think it was......stop counting the days and weeks and months though and STOP, dont quit or give-up.
Sort your head out Teenslain, the rest should follow. good luck.
