  • This.

They've only found one tax evasion scheme, not the other 20. Easier to hold your hand up than go to trial and have him under oath.

  • Bernie Ecclestone Looking forward to seeing him go to jail but i won't hold my breath

  • I reckon he just forgot the £400m, it is quite easy to do.

  • British prisons are full, so he probably realised now was exactly the right time to plead guilty as even if in the unlikely scenario that he got a jail sentence, he'd not be able to serve it.

  • Reminds me of one of my favourite headlines:

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone pays to end bribery trial

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-28656050

  • So we were right to jump to conclusions without first waiting for any evidence or proper investigation. Fuck you @Soul it was the EV wot dunnit, time to ban electric and return to leaded two stroke with straight through exhausts.

Unless a proper investigation by competent people (ie not us) proves otherwise at which point I will whole heartedly ignore any facts.

  • Can we ban Range Rovers too?

  • That could be detrimental to the education of children.

  • Got to drive them half a mile to school somehow

  • Is that really "evidence"?

  • Not enough for me. That video could still be a normal fire in the engine bay of an ICE vehicle.

  • But letting cunts buy cars that might set them on fire seems like the two birds, one stone solution we're all looking for

  • British prisons are full, so he probably realised now was exactly the right time to plead guilty as even if in the unlikely scenario that he got a jail sentence, he'd not be able to serve it.

He's on a 2 year waiting list to go to prison!

  • That video could still be a normal fire in the engine bay of an ICE vehicle.

This. Plus the fella's car expertise credentials don't exactly spring forth from his bio...

  • I'm curious. EV fires seem to be 'a thing'. Maybe a bit counterintuitively, ICE stuff is probably ahead of the game when it comes to not spontaneously combusting. Anyone who has used bleeding edge Lithium battery tech knows how scary these things are when things go wrong.

That it was an EV might be the simplest explanation.

  • That said, this is interesting (US based, obvs.)

    From this.

  • Surely number recalled as percentage of total sales would be a more useful statistic?

  • Yeah, totally.

SNP to the Tories is quite the leap (I really can't understand it - Scottish Greens maybe or sit as an independent?). The Patrick Grady story behind some of this is awful also.

  • My thoughts on this were:

    • The car in the video doesn't look like it is parked (given the orientation of the other cars in the video), had it just arrived or was just leaving?
    • The nearest fire extinguisher was apparently inoperable, also should the garage have had better fire suppression systems? Sprinklers may not have been able to put out the fires but could have slowed or limited the spread until the fire dept arrive

If you wanted to make cars that absolutely weren't a fire risk then you're going to have a tough time finding a dense energy source that can't catch fire. Lithium batteries, petrol and diesel all like to get very hot and burn.

Whether or not this car was an EV is irrelevant really. One initial fire caused ~1000 cars to go off in a chain reaction - they weren't all EVs.

  • Yes, more private prisons...cos they work so well.

  • Two strokes pass ulez ...

  • You want the truth......you can't handle the truth....

Fuck can't embed the gif....some please

  • I really can't understand it

Because she was always Tory-adjacent, but talked the SNP talk to get elected?

One SNP source said: "She has not been victimised or ostracised, she has shown zero interest in anything to do with the group, or the collegiate nature of the group. It’s amazing that all of this has come to light now that she is facing a reselection.

“This is entirely fictitious, and is not how the SNP does business. It may be how she does business, it may be the impression that she wants to give, but it's fictitious”.
