  • The SNP were previously advocating it and may end up being required in some form or another. I would guess their price now would be a referendum though.

  • Boggles the mind that Labour never went all-in for PR. It's the ultimate example of party over principle. With PR, you know you're as likely as not to be in government with people you need to compromise a lot with, but you're likely to be in government. It may not be 'your party' as you know it, but does any major UK party bear even a passing resemblance to the one it was even 5 years ago?

Without PR, Labour will almost never be in power, particularly as the Tory gerrymandering and media dominance consolidates. Which is better?

  • I don't generally mind George Monbiot but this article boils my piss...

In the weeks after the earthquake/tsunami every single inhabitant of Tokyo, which is miles away from Fukushima, was terrified of the threat of radiation exposure, and the government sure as shit did not know it would be safe. It most certainly wasn't just brushed off and the experience has made me absolutely terrified of nuclear power, because it was quite obvious that one of the most fastidious and technologically advanced nations in the world absolutely had no control over it.

  • Very. because federalism =EU in some eyes.

PR might happen one day but federalism is probably a step to far for some.

In my eyes it has potential to preserve the union, overhaul the lord's with voted representatives, moderate the England first aspect of our system.
Would be interesting to see what it might do to NI

  • There's a group of scientists who think that Sizewell C is at risk of being submerged/surrounded by the sea during its operational lifetime.

I have no idea if they are right or not but standing on the high water mark from the 1956 floods and looking back to Sizewell B...it's not far!

With PR, don't you pretty much ensure a Labour-SNP coalition? Hard to see how demand no. 1 wouldn't be an second independence referendum (that would probably succeed). Then you are stuck with Tory gov'ts forever in rUK unless voting patterns change.

  • Whilst standing there we noticed a very strong smell of chlorine. Enough to make our eyes water.

Are you some sort of posh bird?

  • 😂 rep

  • Sizewell C is at risk of being submerged/surrounded by the sea during its operational lifetime

    “Sizewell under-C”

  • The sea swells swallow Sizewell and the seashore.

  • Row row row your boat gently out to sea, if you see a mushroom cloud don't forget to scream, ahhhhhhhhh!

  • So really you were personally offended and used a very specific minority within a minority to add weight to your personal offence and shame a fairly unidentifiable stranger online?

I am about to be a massive hypocrite here; sometimes just ignoring what you don't like is better for you.

  • A… compliment? What’s your angle?? 🤨🤨

  • Are you some sort of posh bird?

    I've been called worse...

  • WH Press release confirms Biden has Covid. Jfc please don’t let the old codger die, one thing the world definitely doesn’t need right now is to lose a sitting US President.

  • So really you were personally offended and used a very specific minority within a minority to add weight to your personal offence and shame a fairly unidentifiable stranger online?

No, I was not personally offended at all. I've been in control of things for several years. I was feeling empathetic to the half dozen or so people I know on here, who post here daily, who have eating disorders and other weight problems of varying severity.

For example, its shitty to read that if you're overweight you should just eat less and do more...when you're in and out of hospital because you are struggling to do just that. Just encouraging some empathy, is all.

  • Ah! Definitely a compliment! So good

  • I think you got the wrong end of the stick here.

  • Surprised no mention of LFGSS

Hold up, what make you think we’re all teens here?

  • I didn't think there was anyone under 40.
