very level headed young man on BBC24 now
the hackney dude is talking sense on BBC
exactly, it wasn't even like he was regurgitating lines he had been fed. he genuinely understood that people are just cutting off their own noses, stealing from their own communities and ruining their own chances. When he asked what he would say to kids thinking about going out tonight he said "police are gonna step it up tonight so even for your own safety, don't go out".
from a 17 year old from the same areas I thought he did very well and got the point. there are problems and people need to realise the hows and whys but for right now, this needs to stop and only then can we think about learning from it.

Kingsland rd, London fields, Mare st, Hackney central,Hackney downs all clear nothing going on as of 10 mins ago, Shops shutting up but pubs looking busy! The great british public doing what they know best in times of trouble.
appreciated.
same here, bethnal green and down roman road, all clear.alot of rubberneckers and tyre-kickers hanging around though, I reckon it encourages a moody atmosphere..

Because they are fucking batshit insane and I've been waiting to throw them back in people's faces.
Duh.
You disagree with this? "Any little cunt that tries it tonight deserves all they get"
How else would you suggest police put a stop to things? -

No it doesn't seem so outlandish to have your views. I think what people are saying is let's see some tough policing and that may include the use of violence and bullets if all else fails. last night it failed. let's see what happens tonight. Few people wish to see people gunned down in this country but they would like to see the troublemakers stopped. unfortunately that might involve extreme violence as the perpetrators are frightened of nothing and respect nobody. It hardly seems wrong for people to choose the rioters getting hurt over themselves or their property.
Let's remember that most (all?) of those opinions have been expressed by people completely and totally untouched by the riots in a hands-on way (their own property/family). If they are already calling for people to be "gunned down" you have to be worried. All it takes is a bit of fire on the TV and some shops being closed and a large swath of the population is ready to give the city over to the military?
Maybe I'm under-reacting. But let's at least we can discuss appropriate reactions rather than getting all mobby about it (and then shouting people who have opinions like mine down for being apologetic and liberal and therefore dismiss-able).

Who are you going to listen to a trained intelligence officer, or some silly cunt on Twatter?
Neither. They're both silly cunts.
I'll read / listen to media organisations who confirm rumours with facts.
Or if anyone posting here actually sees something with their own eyes and not reporting it second hand down the whisper chain, I'll entertain that as well. There is nothing going on in this part of Streatham (High Road, near the Odeon).
