  • I've not been following this thread till just now when I realised that I had to ride from East -> West to get home. Has anyone got any rumours about a Canary wharf -> City -> Trafalgar Square -> Hyde Park -> Hammersmith route?

This suggests it's clear, but not sure how much it's been updated:

Ive heard Canary Wharf is Ok. After that you might just have to use the Force.

  • Damo: no idea - police advised the market / arcade to close in the last 30 mins. The only reliable info I got on Sunday was from here:

And David - yup, our West Mids office closed early. Borough one locks doors at 4pm and rumours are that mine (Vauxhall) will close then too.

  • But that's what I'm seeing in Lower Clapton. People are saying stuff like " they'll have to kill me 1st"...

oh, that wasn't her then, she was all faux sympathy and sorriness after being on earlier calling them "feral rats". i don't think she mentioned vigilanteism, but i only saw the second half.

  • So... is the wise thing to do (as a bloke who has a load of staff who will need to get home), to send your staff home early and have them finish off the day's work from the comfort of their own homes?

that's what we're doing over here...

  • Twitter is both a wonder of the age and a fucking idiots charter.

  • Walthamstow has choppers.

Definitely, they will appreciate the thought. I made the decision myself and just said I was working from home, didn't give them (my bosses) the choice.

Speaking as a member of staff (albeit not yours obviously) I'd appreciate being told to leg it at this point, before it gets hairy.

  • Loads of internet reports of Millwall 'lads' mobbing up in local boozers over SE London this afternoon ready to defend their patch

Any little cunt that tries it tonight deserves all they get

I'm betting on this for Lower Clapton.
Turks weren't happy today with the level of damage.

  • FFS. BBC News 24 is being presented by "graduates" from Newsround... Srsly...

Thank fuck they haven't sunk as low as recruiting from Radio 1's Newsbeat.

One adrenalinised gang who fancy a glorified ruck lie in wait for another.

  • I would imagine the coppers will stand by and let that play out

Not sure if that makes me feel better about living in the Bermondsey area or worse!

people here aren't even discussing the riots. I'm getting very antsy now, would much rather be holed up indoors when it kicks off. not trying to navigate through the areas they're saying are going to have trouble...

christ the dog really is chasing his own tail. one and the same surely?

  • noticeably more sirens and sustained chopper noise over SE5

  • We're being sent home at 4pm.. This is absolutely unprecedented. We hire broadcast camera kit. Boss is not so much worried about the stock (it's major high security building).. Just our safety.

  • So it's all about Sarf london tonite?

  • Where you at? I might do..... When you coming to L.Clapton?

Cycled to Spain and about 10 miles from portugal at the moment. Ferry back from Santander gets to Plymouth Thursday then train back up. The Spanish press over here has the 'riots' (inverted commas as I've got no real idea of the scale of the trouble apart from that bastion of free press and reportage that is LFGSS) billed pretty high, second in international news after economy. I leave the country for a couple of weeks and shit falls apart. Don't worry, I'll promise to sort it out by the weekend.
