  • Everyone who gets deployed does public order training. Before I went to Iraq we spent a memorable few days in thetford having the shit kicked out of us by "rioters". They turned out to be a TA unit from Northern Ireland who were all Orangemen, and had learned to riot at Drumcree.

    Sounds like fun

  • And what rules of engagement are we talking here? No Government will sanction any ballistic useage for crowd control so what deterrent are they posing? Oh, and how do you move them around as fast as the crews are going tonight? Lynxes won't drop enough men to have an effect on a group 200 strong.

The old ROE used to have a bit about protecting property, but they took it out.

  • How looting is done in Birmingham -

  • Photographers watching Sky right now. Has the crew in Camden actually got a starburst filter on?

    haha

    disco

  • Crazy amounts of sirens in Edmonton/Tottenham area...

  • This is truly embarrassing for England. How the fuck did you make these horrible getto gangster 'aw rite bruv' disease children??

  • New here - just want to ask about how to make a new single speed/fixie as painless as possible - need 3 posts - been a rocky night here on Walworth Road SE17. Fire, 100s of looter, riot police. Nothing to do with any politics, the shooting, or disillusionment. These guys were well dressed, well fed, laughing and only concerned with nicking trainers and electrical consumer goods.

    Utter scum.

  • that photo is comedy gold.

  • Are they sitting back for a bit, letting them wear themselves out on soft targets like Debenhams and JDs before they go for the City, West End and other more "important" (read "big money/power") targets?

I think there is a bit of this, 'let them piss on their chips if they want to'.

  • The Met knows what its doing. It really struggled with public disorder in the 80s -look at the footage of the original Brixton riots when the Police had to use dustbin lids as shields..they are probably a bit rusty in dealing with this sort of rioting.

I suspect a lot of senior managers are on holiday- August being the unofficial"wakes week" for public sector senior managers. They are all on their way back now..

  • How looting is done in Birmingham -

  • I like the fact they are still reporting what's happened 2 days ago back home. Which means I don't have to call mama until Wed to report my safety.

And the BBC reporter sounds she is scared, very scared.

I have no idea. what happened?

  • BBC reporter says the police are there but not the fire brigade and the building has been on fire for 15 mins or so.

The shop contains helium cannisters and residents are being advised to leave the area.

    Fire engines there , now

  • Sounds like fun

It was kind of fun. One bloke got a broken ankle, another got hit in the face and got a detatched retina.
The first couple of days we were using blocks of wood to simulate thrown bricks, but they caused so many injuries that they got a lorry load of carrots from one of the local farms, which are slightly softer but considerably more bizarre.

  • Been watching the footage all day on news website and twitterfeeds. Words can't describe how I'm feeling and I don't even live there. Despite been in the safe confines of Northumberland my stomach won't stop churning and its not from the dodgy bangers I had for tea. To top it all off my girlfriend just moved down to london this week and the thought of her travelling back home on her own on an evening is another headfuck. This country is fucked. Stay Safe everyone.

  • Check this out :

  • Notting Hill

Ledbury Restaurant has been raided and the diners mugged. Kitchen staff apparently came out wielding knives.
