I've seen a couple of articles on that story, all of them awful.
For example:
"The area reserved for pedal-powered transport measures 6.5ft (2m) wide, leaving just 4.5ft (1.4m) for cars, lorries and buses to squeeze through."
The area reserved for bikes? have you looked at the photo you have used to illustrate the article? It's not a solid line, idiot, all vehicles are allowed to cross it.Then you get someone from the AA (because they know about the roads) giving a really incredibly ignorant quote. Depressing.
Exactly. It's advisory only. Never let sense get in the way of a story that sells, eh? The annoying thing is that such stories sometimes become widely-accepted urban myths.

Linda Polman is a terrific journalist and this sounds like an interesting book

and requested that journalists "stop venturing palpably untrue statements dressed up as fact".
i thought that's what journalism was?
or at least lazily researched untrue statements cobbled together and dressed up as facts. -

This is a fucking disgrace. Chinese authorities plan to force sterilise 10,000 people.

"It's unclear how the F3's stunt pegs and 360-degree gyro will aid crime fighting; maybe officers hope to stun offenders into submission with a succession of grinds and barspins, or maybe they'll use the pegs to give colleagues 'backies' when chasing more than one suspect?"
Gold!

It's sick in the fact that it's forced but population growth needs to be contained. The only diffrence is that because China is a one party state it can do something about it even though it goes about it in a brutal way, while the rest of the world just seems to say it's expectable to have large families and increase the population instead of encouraging small families and population stabilization / decrease. Hence any type of attempt at population control anywhere else draws comparisons with China and their authoritarian methods.

England. Someone who can't use the word 'incarcerated' correctly up against someone who uses the word 'dastardly'.

Interesting that the National Victims Association don't come out against displays of works by by artists like Warhol and Hirst, both of whom have had a history of illegal drug use that has influenced their works. Despite the drug trade arguably having a greater victim impact than armed robbery, they don't seem to care about these victims. What a bunch of muttering fuckwits.

So why can't they introduce a tax on increased family sizes? If you can afford it feel free to have more kids.

From what I can gather, if you can afford it you dont live there. I guarantee they're not heading into apartment buildings to do this.... Its the poorest who will be targeted, cos thats how they roll.
Remember the compulsory property aquisitions in the name of the Olympics? I saw images of houses left standing amongst huts torn down.

#Deavilsadvocate- These people have already had children- they live ina country with massive overcrowding on a planet with overcrowding. they have no right to have to have any more children

How are you defining rights?

Moral right.

Why would sterilsing drug addicts have anything to do with this?
