  • Too much to catch up on here, but heard that the Notting Hill Carnival will now be cancelled

  • It's pretty intense down here at the moment. Choppers overhead for the past hour. Have been watching footage and it's all 14/15 year olds ffs. The law needs changing. However, the Greggs in Peckham has now been torched, making it personal. Am going out to investigate. Little shits.

  • Dear bare man dem, please please spare my car. I've only brought it back from the garage.

  • simon hughes is conspiracy theorying like a motherfucker on bbc news now!

Keep up FFS! That was decided about a month ago 'cos Boris is racist

  • It didn't look that way half an hour ago when I cycled past a couple of times (although, as I said, I saw some kids who looked "hungry" for it. But I assumed they were on there way to or from some other trouble).

all quiet right now. no kids for the last 20 mins.. station has been closed though.

    definitely or maybe?

Looks it it's a second time this year

    #racist

  • Borstal?

Ok, let's have a sweep on how long it is before the words "National Service" are used in anger.

Can I just say how lame it is that the senior ex-cops are saying that the police are being restrained by fear of criticism?

  • National Service! Now you're talking.

  • The thing that strikes me from watching all of this coverage, from everywhere, is that there don't seem to be very many 'rioters' in each individual area at all--perhaps just too spread out to tell?

  • National Service! Now you're talking.

    This ^

  • I agree, but the majority of these looters are kids, sending in heavily armed, highly trained officers to beat the shit out of them needs to be thought about.

    hmm..

    batons?
    dogs?
    rubber bullets?

Highly trained being the operative phrase here. People who know who to target and how to best use whatever level of force they have at their discretion. Not to do what the Met do and have the majority of their constabulary hit their ceiling at "social worker with a cross look on their face" then rely on a relatively small task force to clean up.

  • Fuck it, the deep seated reasons behind this can be debated to the nth degree at any time. This just needs to be stopped NOW! People's lively hoods and homes are being razed to the ground by their own communities.

The PSNI have this for 14 or so nights every summer and are very capable of nipping it in the bud. It's all very well chastising oiks who paints bomb H&M on Oxford Street but the Met are not equipped to deal with wide spread, non directional violence. The only answer is to hit it hard. (not actually kill anyone of course!) Water cannons, dogs, baton rounds, make it clear that if you are in this area you are part of the riot and force will be used to disperse rioters. They'll soon get the fucking message.

You say that, but when they then start turning this shit on peaceful protests...? They'd be harangued for excessive force, they can't please everyone. The association between these riots and protests, like calling them 'protesters', shows the link is already being made.

  • Thread merge?

  • If you want to put some space betwen you and the flames you're welcome to roll down here (bottom of Peckham Rye Park). Offer open to displaced forum peckhamites. But only if you bring beer and popcorn.

No way would it be appropriate for a peaceful protest but I'm not talking about that (there are many protests in Belfast and the PSNI do perfectly well there).

  • I think the reason that they are using Blackberry messenger for this is that iPhone and HTC handsets would have run out of power by now.

  • Catford JD Sports = gone

    Downham getting fucked up too

  • Downham?

  • chopper is back over peckham, twitter is getting excited too. Anyone know what is happening?

I've only been calling them cunts. What happens in NI is totally appropriate to these cunts.

  • The way this is going, it seems to be moving towards Upper Clapton.
