Looks like today might finally be the day that Robert Mugabe gets ousted. It’ll be interesting to see how this is going to unfold. Power grab or democratic change.

It’s rare for the military to advocate democracy in any country.

Apparently he's been found. On an air strip now. (Someone at work knows him).
-
• #50005
glad to hear he wasn't eaten
-
• #50006
By mosquitos? He probably was.
-
• #50007
Why did they think he'd gone missing when it seems he didn't give a fixed time for his return?
If he only set out in October, a month doesn't seem to me such a long time for a trip like that.

'Straya votes yes.
As ever, a process that has shone a torch on the bigoted and shown them up for what they are.
-
• #50009
It's great news- and a result despite a huge effort to make it go the other way.

Not sure. His missus hadn't heard from him for a while - which given his remote location might not be that much a surprise - but more significantly I think he was expected to give a talk in Hong Kong yesterday.

Much like Brexit... We are all doomed...
Almost 62% tho', pretty great result... Huge response to the survey...

Ah, OK, that does put a date on it. :)
Glad he's safe.

aye news report on the radio this morning said his wife had reported he had missed flights that had been booked for him and there had been no contact for a while.
-
• #50014
see it hasn't stopped that turnbull shitwit from trying to take credit for the outcome of a question that should never even have been put to a referendum in the first place.

Pastry Jesus, such a lovely little sausage
-
• #50020
i'm surprised they used one with a little nibble out of it
although back middle has a nice can of stella, which as we all know goes perfectly with a sausage roll, he couldn't help himself

• #50021
Not ousted it seems? Just being "protected from" his wife's negative influence.
EDIT:
No idea if that Twitter account has any relevance. -
• #50022
He definitely been found? Only he's still reported as missing everywhere I look. Seems odd to be above the fold on lots of fairly sizeable news sites and not get an update all day.

The guy at work hasn't heard any more since this morning. So waiting for confirmation would seem prudent. Certainly the news sites, as you say, tell a different story. Intriguing.

In June of 1986, Brown goes to Oxford for a story on the death of a young heiress from a heroin overdose. She hires a student journalist, Allegra Mostyn-Owen, to make introductions. Mostyn-Owen fobs off Brown at a lunch with posh kids and her boyfriend, “a young fogey with a thatch of blond hair and a plummy voice called Boris Johnson.” A bit later, the Sunday Telegraph publishes, under Mostyn-Owen’s byline, a snarky account of Brown’s visit, centered on the lunch. Brown finds that she’s extensively misquoted—unsurprisingly, since Mostyn-Owen wasn’t there. “Boris Johnson is an epic shit,” Brown concludes. “I hope he ends badly.”
Good stuff in the latest New Yorker in their article on Tina Brown.
