Asked about the MP’s comments, Theresa May told the Commons: “I think it is beholden on us all to ensure we use appropriate language at all times.”
Surely, as an MP it's beholden on you not to be a disgusting racist? The language is one thing but it's the beliefs behind it that are the big issue.
Imagine being such an entrenched racist that you actually feel comfortable using the term and imagine being in the type of company where the term can be used without so much as a murmur from anyone else in the room?

listened to that item on radio 4 and my thought was what a file hateful person they where. The next item was people having their blood contaminated for years and their medical records altered under a massive cover up.

All pretty grim at the moment in the UK isn't it? This summed it up quite well for me on Monday:

More of case of 'what are we prepared to lose to baggage handlers?' I think.

I tried to check in a pencil case once but was refused as it was 'too small and would get lost' :(
(I'd flown out earlier in the day with a penknife in my hand luggage that I'd forgotten about and wasn't spotted at security - it was on the way back and I didn't want to lose it)

So these guys have been permanently disfigured for something that could cost less than 1000 quid with license plates and MOT test?
Unless the whole point is to obtain 'untraceable' scooters for use in other illegal activities?
Really unnerving in any case. -

They've arrested someone. 16 year old. Jeez.
-
• #46619
Think it's more the latter. I was talking to someone who works with youth offenders, these kids using scooters to steal mobiles can be earning well upwards of £3,000-£5,000 a week. It's an organised thing where they're sold on and shipped overseas in bulk.

Acid though. Such a horrible thing to do.

It doesn't seem to add any 'value' to the crime. Just makes it worse for the victim and presumably the crim if caught.
-
• #46622
It's cheap, easily available and incapacitates the victim in an instant.
Put the horrible consequences to one side and you can see why they use it.

And carrying a bottle of liquid might be easier to get away with than a more obvious weapon like a knife.
It's fucking horrible.

Saw a phone snatch gang in balaclavas last night on MTBs suicidally crossing Hampstead Rd traffic coming from Regents Place. They were really young.

Would seem easier to just push the other rider over, no chance of getting caught with anything then.
Drove over to Mosul yesterday to see what the celebrations were like (and how much was worth celebrating). Unfortunately, after a long discussion at the checkpoint outside of town, it was decided that they're not receiving visitors without official documentation.
