That was a joke.
That said, I don't think the extent of the oilfields was much appreciated back then. Moreover, from Thatcher's point of view, it was more a matter of pride and moral obligation. I don't think Thatcher was really motivated by whether or not she was perceived as being popular. Reagan, and most of our allies, tried to persuade her against going to war, don't you know - the US refused us the use or airbases that would allow us to operate F-4 Phantoms.

It's all a bit mall ninja really.
I can't imagine what goes through the mind of someone who actually types things like:
"My 'Black-Ops' history ensures that you will never know about the missions I accepted in my younger days"

Yeah, in my opinion. Everyone's point of view is a mere opinion.
It's also my opinion that taking the piss out of Abbott's lisp is pretty cheap.
Just my opinion so no need to worry about it. -

Pistorius found guilty of murder upon appeal (he was originally convicted of manslaughter).
No sentencing yet.

Whomever thought buying hollow tipped bullets and shooting at unknown persons through a locked door would lead to death?
A travesty of justice put right.

Minimum 15 years in SA, I think. Though after the first trial, it sounds like a lottery!

Do you think if we continue bombing Iraq and Syria they will stop?
Of course they won't stop trying to bomb london, whatever we do. It's part of the reason they exist. So the choice is, we carry on as we are while they try to bomb us, or we help break up their supply lines, sources of income and structures of leadership in Syria while they try and bomb us. Both choices are not ideal.

I saw more choices.

I saw more choices.
You're right, other options have been put forward, such as attempting to enter into dialogue with Assad and others to unify regional forces against ISIS, very difficult as they are all at war with each other. Then there's the option of stepping up actions we are already taking, such as training and providing arms to the Iraqi army, the problem being Isis won't be defeated in Iraq alone. I'm sure there are more things that could be considered as well.

This is going to take a while, but good post!
I'd have thought that the racism and hypocrisy would have been more appropriate things to target.
