Geographically, and in terms of architecture, it will always be nicer here than Places like the wandsworth / northcote. Though I do miss the wide open, windswept feeling of Clapham Common in the winter, when it's not littered with half naked estate agents and, well, litter. One really worrying thing however is a big chinese business, at the invitation do doubt of Cameron and Boris, are going to "rebuild the crystal palace" by which they mean destroy a swathe of precious open space with a shopping mall. Kinda sad. The starbucks will probably come.

How about they build a floating road for the cars, charge them Ā£1.50 to roll up and down it and we can all use the embankment for free?
-
• #32255
Frankly, this building should wear some hi-viz, it's only got itself to blame for being crashed into.
-
• #32256
Er oops, there are actually two buildings. It's this one that the cars crash into:
If you look at the layout of the approach roads, which is about as bad as it could be configured, you can see how drivers miss taking the corner safely.

The article is missing the standard insinuatory witness statement:
While nobody directly witnessed the incident, people who were in the area described hearing a loud crash, then seeing the house underneath a badly damaged car. Local man Dave (42) commented: "This is a busy intersection where you see plenty of houses just appearing out of nowhere. I'm not surprised this has now happened twice. Houses should take more care when next to a road."

You've got to be careful with these cars, they have a mind of their own http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/woman-pinned-against-wall-by-out-of-control-car-in-sheffield-1-6881676
A woman was seriously injured in a collision in Sheffield after a car mounted a pavement and pinned her against a wall.
The 33-year-old was walking along Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, when a grey Peugeot 207, travelling towards the city centre, mounted the kerb and struck the woman.
āJust before 6pm yesterday a grey Peugeot 207 was in collision with a 33-year-old woman who was walking along Chesterfield Road.
āThe car, which was travelling towards the city centre, mounted the kerb and pinned the woman against a stone wall for a short time before it came to rest. It'd be a lot safer if there was someone in there controlling them.

Aussie mother emerges from jungle after 17 days.
It turns out going on a bender then taking an impromptu two week retreat featuring hiking, swimming, crocodile combat and a high-protein low-fat fish-and-insect diet are a great way to go from 90kg (14 stone) to 74kg (about 11.5 stone) without spending a dollar on slimming clubs, meal-replacements or gym membership.
It is reported that she had proposed to her now-fiancƩe Heath two days before the start of her ordeal. Whilst she will be able to avoid the body-image and dress-fitting nightmare experienced by some brides-to-be should she be planning a traditional western wedding, she is receiving treatment in hospital for infected cuts, grazes, insect bites and 3rd degree sunburn (which she soothed by spending 3 days bathing in a creek).
I'm not recommending this approach, since she only found her way out (to about 30m from where she started) thanks to the trail of breadcrumbs (coloured markers) left by the search teams.
Many comments on Australian news websites do share a theme of doubt as to the veracity of the story, but a career as an active-lifestyle advocate could potentially be an option.

pubs are for adults. It was the place men use to go and not have to worry about moaning women or kids.
Amazing. Women == not adults. You read it here first!
