it'll be really sad if as a result of the break-in they lock the place down. it's such a beautiful place to go.

That's a strange one; so they broke in to steal it then somehow dropped it? Bit clumsy isn't it?
Or is it an accidental break & we just don't know what they actually stole?

It slipped, because subconsciously they wanted it to slip. -

Boris reckons London's the Greenest City on Earth. Looks like it's the greenest in Europe, third greenest in the world:
http://www.edie.net/news/6/London--greenest-city--in-Europe-/
The capital contains 35,000 acres of public parks, woodlands and gardens, which means that 40% of its surface area is made up of publicly accessible green space.
In comparison, Berlin, the next major city green space provider in Europe, has just 14.4% of green surface area.

I cycle past her ghost bike at least twice a day, it's a constant reminder.

That's a very high level of forgiveness. I guess cos he could accept the driver really couldn't have seen his girlfriend, so maybe he saw it as an unfortunate death (like slipping on a leaf, and hitting your head) rather than a personal act against him.

It's bullshit that what it is.
This;
Mr Gibbs, who has been driving lorries for 48 years
And this:
He added: “I've done that route hundreds of times and I still do it now... There's no cycle lanes - there's nothing down there for cyclists. It's winding me up.”
Fucked me up the most, he been driving for nearly half a centuries yet for some reason claim that the lack of cycle lane is why the victim got killed by him, he just placing the blame that than admitting his actual driving that ultimately result in a fatality.
He claim to drove the same route hundreds of time, hundreds of time, you'd think in a city where people ride bicycles everyday he would be more aware of it and adapt his driving to compensate.
Or just drive sensible and in accordance to the Highway Code, which work well too.

^ This is the first I've read on that particular incident; are there other articles with evidence it was the drivers fault & he wasn't driving in accordance with the highway code? Seems strange the Independent didn't mention that.
Lot of respect for the boyfriend, I'm actually struggling to get my head around how he could do it, I know I couldn't.

I may be wrong but it seems that the ASL was filled up with cars and whatnot which is why she was was forced into a position where the truck could not see her
CCTV footage shown to the court revealed how a bus and a minicab had stopped in the green “advanced stopped zone” box reserved for cyclists to give them a head-start at the traffic lights, while a report by the Met Police's road accident investigation unit found that Mr Gibbs could not have expected to see Ms Lee because she was so close to the front of the lorry at the lights.
If she had filtered to in front of the lorry, it is understandable that the truck driver did not see her, I too would be incredibly pissed at the whole situation. If the drivers of the vehicles actually believed that stopping in the ASL was a bad thing and they would be fined maybe it would have been clear and the poor young lady would have been visible to the truck driver. It's another example of poor driver education and also poor road planning for cyclists.

For a driver who drove the same route hundreds of time, you'd think he is aware of the blind spot.
