  • It looks more to me like large multinationals with the healthiest bank balance that are based or originated in that state. But I don't recognise a lot of those brands so could well be wrong.

  • Quick google leads me to believe they're popular brands strated in/HQ'd from those states. Which makes more sense.

  • That worked well for bankers..

Oh look come on now, would you rather they worked in another country? Don't be ridiculous.

  • Yeah, they are welcome to compete to their heart's content running fruit stalls in Nigeria somewhere.

  • It's possible Virginia really does love AOL that much (if I had to bet though, they'd be all about the ciggies). And Arizona can't get enough of Best Western. But I doubt it.

I thought that first too, I would struggle to believe each state has it's own unique favourite brand.

But then I realised I think it's the most popular brand from that state, not in that state.

Best Western is HQed in Phoenix.

  • Ah shit. Should have read this page first.

  • How come no mc donalds on that list?

    Wow.

  • I'm trying to find some sort of corroboration, but I can't. I really want it to be true.

  • Here's the full discussion... I smell BS, great story nonetheless...

  • Founded in California, somehow less famous or popular than Apple.

Their headquarters is Illinois (for tax reasons)... Apparently Cat are a bigger brand there?

Also I recon this is from last year, as the most popular brand in Washington state is now BC bud.

Possibly fail thread material. Rude woman, using her phone and being shocked by checkout assistant's attitude.

Lol, NHS Direct pulls out of contracts before they even answer any 111 calls, as it was "financially unsustainable". Will be interesting to see if this finally convinces the tories that privitisation wont fix everything ...

  • FFS - Even in the 80s rush to privatise, covenants were set in place that low margin areas had to be serviced bu the newly privatised industries - Post offices in the Orkneys and telephone lines in the Channel Islands and the like.

  • Why the fuck would you want to call anyone in the Channel Islands?

  • your tax accountant obvs
wouldn't want to make the call on a mobile that can be traced by HMRC / Barak Obama's mob
