A mate has lived in the suburbs of Belfast for years. loves it. Stays the fuck away from the city. His dad is one of those rich people that bought fucking huge houses with loads of land. first time he invited me to Belfast to go wakeboarding on his boat I assumed it was some sort of riot induced flood joke.

Ok, so opinion is disqualified if you come from there or haven't been there. Intrepid holidaymakers only.
Most people in NI happily vote for parties headed by the likes of Paisley and Adams. Ergo, idiots, and bigoted ones at that. Selah.

• #18982
Yep, that's the attitude - keep bleating about the Brits and acting the dick. That's what'll keep Belfast a mire full of thick bigoted scum blaming everyone else for another few lifetimes.
You realize those protesting are Brits (they would call themselves that, anyway)? And they're protesting about the removal of the British flag?
I do think there is something to do with the Brits here.

Whatever, you're a Brit, you would say that...

the continued violence in Belfast is very similar to the riots here in London in that the original protests are only tenuously linked to what is carrying on. They are more about a disaffected youth and being symptomatic of a socio-economic clusterfuck. If you asked any of these "protesters" why they are doing it they will only be able to regurgitate something they heard on tv. Much like when in London they said "cos the police shot Mark Duggan" they have no idea what the original cause was. Belfast was a very clever/sly political move that has either backfired or gone exactly the way the instigators secretly planned.

What would you know of this, Taffy?

Oh goody a forum discussion on a 400 year old conflict between opposing religious groups. This should get resolved on this page.

Sorry, did my post go over your head? Where did I say this was about "the troubles/the conflict/the invasion/the Gaelic resurgence"

I did not know that. Please tell me more.
'Brits' may have been lazy wording, or just easier than saying 'Cromwell / plantation of Ulster / Bloody Sunday / Diplock trials / the Good Friday Agreement (delete as applicable)'. Point is, the majority of the population of Belfast act like tiresome spoiled children, who gab on endlessly about the past (or their new euph, 'our cultural heritage') as if it matters.
They're also worse now than they were 10 years ago.

So your response / solution is labelling an entire city as "thick bigoted scum" (#18989) or tiresome spoiled children. I would consider that far more infantile.
-
• #18993
Certainly the bunch or arses in Belfast can take a bit of responsibility for their own dickheadedness. 'Blame the Brits and act like a wanker' is a bit of a cop out.
I blame the Brits.
Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox? What a fucking travesty.

Custodial sentences for drivers whose racing caused the death of a cyclist:
Bradford Drivers whose 80mph race led to cyclists death jailed for four years.

Yes, it's much healthier to blame some eejits who died centuries ago (and happen to be on the other side to you) than to expect the people who are shitting all over their own front rooms to grow up and take a bit of responsibility themselves. Grown humans rioting in the streets over a fucking dishcloth? Tiresome spoiled bigoted thick childscum.

"The court heard that automatic number plate recognition cameras revealed that earlier that evening, Khan had covered the 223 miles from Cardiff to Bradford at an average speed of 85 miles an hour."

Both were also banned from driving for four years, to be served after the end of their prison terms.
No driving for 8 years, bit light but better than nothing.

Sorry, did my post refer exclusively to you? Did I not say that there was a discussion? However you have to admit that just about everything in Northern Ireland is tainted by "the troubles" in some way.
No, apart from that couple of decades I lived there.
