I read the arstechnica article, the headlines and my original post are just scare mongering, it really won't get in the way.
My main concern is now the censorship door has been opened.

On the subject of censoring the internet for children. I think it's obvious that children should be protected from what you can find on the internet at the touch of a button and i'm sure that in any tech savvy house they are, it's when they visit houses of friends with less savvy parents that they'll be exposed to things. This isn't really different to what many of us experienced in our youth with the friend who's dad had copies of men only. Except now kids can access horrific gangbangs and beheadings.

The .gov would have been better off by having an ad campaign for how to set up parental controls or something. I agree about protecting kids from stumbling in to such things but I think its being worked at from the wrong angle.

Anyone watching the NRA statement. The absurdity of it is off the charts.

Guns don't kill people.. Films and video games and music kills people..
A national register.. not for guns.. But for the the mentally ill..
Exact quote "This is the beginning of a serious conversation. We won't be taking any questions."..
Just an insane response. It was half an hour in fantasy land with two cracking protesters..

My ex-wife's school in Chicago has metal detectors on the door and armed guards patrolling the corridors, that was in the eighties.

So I think the NRA must mean POSH schools.

There is on thing I strongly disagree with:
"Guns don't kill people.. Films and video games and music kills people.."
IMO Computer games DO NOT affect kids. If pacman messed my generation up as children, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching colourful magic pills whilst listening to repetitive electronic music.
