True.
I am also fascinated as to why, whenever there is a flooded street, they always have to show somebody cycling through two feet of water.Smug canoeists, yes.
Funny motorboats on the high street, ok.
But why the perpetual need to show cyclists riding through floods?

What a plucky chap, pedalling through the floods. -

ha! it's part of the nationally agreed language of news. much like the nationally agreed units of news measurements:
weight: bags of sugar/family dogs/small family cars/elephants/double decker buses
area: football pitches/"an area the size of wales"
height: double decker buses/nelson's columns
distance: london to edinburgh/round the earth/to the moon... and backi was reading something in a book review in the graun yesterday and it gave an amount (gold produced by the sun i think) as being "sufficient to cover scotland to a depth of 362 feet". which really helped put it in terms i understand.

This happy nodder couldn't give a cunting fuck if it's flooded or not! Good show! How come he's cycling through floods like that but the bloke in the suit behind him clearly doesn't give a shit he's walking to work in a suit and up to his ankles in water?

From the look of the wheels it's only a few inches deep. The suit is a few inches higher up, on the pavement.

Just now on the BBC news, story on the tuition fees demonstration.
Reporter, to blatant 'anarchist' trustafarian nipple-dick - 'what's that in your hand?'
Him - 'it's a ras-clart weapon.'
Safe blud.
-
• #1744
what the fuck is a ras-clart weapon?
-

anyone else have a secret desire to see what it feels like to throw a rock at someone for two-timing, or what it feels like to have a rock hit you for two-timing?
obviously, you cannot reply in the affirmative as it would no longer be secret.

• #1747
No, no I don't.
In other news, SNOW!!!1!

I can't believe the Met are kettling children and people aren't making more of a fuss. Kettling is wrong anyway, but people are tweeting about policemen kicking unarmed 15 year old girls and 'hitting a kid in the face breaking his braces'. The BBC News coverage at 10 was absolutely shit, presided over by that shitty little Tory catamite Nick Robinson, completely focused on the politics, not that London's police force are forcibly detaining children on the streets at the end of November. Fucking disgusting.
-
• #1749
to be controversial: making a fuss of injured police is kinda like making a fuss of a junkie getting aids. neither of them chose it, but knew it could happen. state-officials injuring citizens is far more newsworthy IMO.
-
• #1750
Injuring children - even more newsworthy. I don't condone violence and anyone who injures a po po should be dealt with - I've got nothing against them, they're just a tool of the state. It's like hating a hammer if I hit you over the head with it.
But if anyone wants to go and peacefully protest it is very likely they will be rounded up like sheep and detained for hours even if they've done nothing wrong. And even if they're children. Makes me really angry.
