Meanwhile out in the wilderness.....I'm at my folks out here on the fringes of civilisation, after months of local protests, finally this morning an annoucement made:

Locals are furious, sharpening pitch forks ready for mass demo later. I doubt you'll here about in London's famous London in view of whats going on there, but this is massive here, mega exciting stuff as nothing else has happened here apart from a local bloke having a stroke.

Get the locals from the next valley along into the same village hall and let them decide where it goes. They'll soon shut up, or gang up on you.

Mars curiosity rover landed safely. Probably the most complex landing ever... involved a rocket powered crane to lower the rover after reentry.

It was amazing. I went to the Natural History Museum this morning to see the NASA stream, we got to have a Skype chat with one of the spectrometrists who worked on some of the analysis systems and there was a panel of 3 awesome people, one from the museum who used to work for NASA and two from the Aurora programme.

The six-wheeled rover Curiosity was lowered to the Martian surface on three nylon tethers suspended from a hovering "sky crane" kept airborne with retro rockets.
