If you're interested in what's likely to happen in Syria, this interview with Patrick Cockburn is illuminating (there's about 10 mins on Greece but you can skip it).

Synopsis:
good chance that Syria will end up like Lebanon 76 - 92, and Iraq 2003 - present, ie bitter inter-ethnic conflict.
Apologies to anyone that is bored of the continuing Middle East conflicts.

Pfft, Tories/MPs don't give a fuck about their families. Take Louise Mensch. Constituency in Corby, office in London, husband in New York, kids in between.
What, they drowned them in the Atlantic?

does she have insight that no once else on planet earth has got
has she made some ground breaking scientific break through ?or is she just a pop singer who wears silly clothes ?

Don't know her music and am not on twitter, but she's anti-hate and that's cool with me.

That is essentially a page filler/non story. I don't have a problem with tabloids covering that type of menial crap but I'd expect more from a decent paper like that. As with the BBC.
Cher Lloyd is also anti-hate. What's so special about being "anti-hate"?
-
• #14041
i know it's a page filler but there are 20mn people who are hanging on her every word ?
i have visited twitter oncei have no comprehension of the wit / charm / intelligence of her posts
can someone paste some of her not to be missed 150 character bits of incredibleness just so i can gauge what i am missing

Stephen Fry notwithstanding, Twitter is not the way intelligent people follow other intelligent people, so much as It is the way angsty, empty-headed teenage fans follow their idols.
So she doesn't need to say anything astounding. She just has to say something slightly more interesting than the colour of her socks to keep followers returning to hear more, and she needs to have a lot of followers to say it to.
Lady Gaga has a lot of these teenage fans not only because regardless of whether it is to yours or my taste, she is that rarity, a genuinely very talented singer, songwriter and musician. And despite all the costumes and showmanship I think there is a large streak of authenticity in what she creates, which appeals to a lot of people. She also seems to have a consistent message about working hard to follow your dreams and not letting detractors and doubters get in your way, which greatly appeals to those American teenagers who aren't the pretty and successful cheerleaders (i.e. most of them), but nevertheless have to succeed in a shallow society that values physical beauty above all else.
tl;dr: she's not got anything astounding to say (though it must be interesting enough to her fans), but she's more than a pop singer in silly clothes.

html rule is 100%
which is 100% of whatever you have set your browser to be.
I think we're missing the point (size).
one would almost think it's of the genus canis lupis it's so big
