Welsh, like Gaelic should be left to die out rather than being propped up at expense for 16 people in a fucking valley to ponce on about as if they are upholding some sort of cultural ra ra ra whatever bollocks......it's the equivalent of Panda's being artificially kept alive...poor fuckers
Well gweller dy vam a'i gorsau ar agor!
And if there're any cornish in the room, I think that attitude is well summed up by the phrase: "Mes den hep tavas a gollach y dyr". I don't know if that's how you spell it though.

It's actually an extremely interesting topic. I studied it [Welsh], Cornish, Manx, Breton and a bit of Gaelic (scots not irish) for a while.
Cornish is absolutely nuts.
How far do you think that Cornish is a natural langauge, these days? I got the impression that in order to create a functional language form the remnant, they synthesised something from large amounts of Welsh and Breton in the 70s and integrated it with what was left from the remaining cornish speakers. I don't know if that's true though; people have a surprising capacity to talk jive about language which I guess goes back to its' power as an expression of identity. So people might be claiming that 'cornish' is an artificial identity, by attacking cornish as a synthetic language.
Cumbric FTW.

That's where you're going wrong. If you were a total douchebag, you could probably make a nice living getting all the clothing brands which are so far up their own arses they can't see their own stupidity to pay you to not wear their schmutter.

Plainly ridiculous. Examine just the "English language" literature in the 950 or so years since our language became Anglo-Norman and stack it up against the whole history of Welsh.
Fuck off, you pompous imperialist bastard.

Harsh.
literature aint culture
It isn't all of culture, but of that part of culture which allows for distinction based on language, it is by far the greater part. It's pretty meaningless to talk of Welsh sculpture or Welsh architecture, isn't it?

And the plastic scouser from Wantage is dissing the Celtic brotherhood? Massive fail. Not unexpected...

why?
Because both arts (among many others) have long transcended nationality. Outside of folk art, there's no sculpture which can really be called distinctive to a particular culture. What would Welsh sculpture consist of? A Welsh person carving Italian Marble, or an Italian carving Welsh Slate?
