awesome stuff by the Irish !!

Well done to Ireland, but you do have to beat the likes of Australia if you have any serious ambition to win the tournament, everyone seems to be getting carried away.
Off to Dublin tomorrow - Dublin v Kerry...

Tight game but a good win from Wales. If all goes well sets up an interesting quarter final against Ireland
-

very unconvincing unfortunately :( there superior second half fitness is all that kept us in it, happy with the win but the team seems very hit and miss at the minute, praying we don't lose hook too, will be very important if we get to the quarters.

Oh shit, thought the Wales game was on after England
Georgia puttin the wind up England on HT, should be an interesting 2nd half

england senior players performance today is simply not good enough.. shocking discipline, i just can't see england improving against stronger opposition, england are running out of time, fielding new players in game 2 is not good prep for an assault at knock-out stages.. mind you i felt the same in 2003 after a magnificent grand slam and decent unbeaten run, they then under-performed in the group matches, nerve jangling stuff, great tournament though
brilliant tribute by the wales captain following hard win over samoa..
i missed france vs canada.. but hoping the french are still all at sea.. :) -

Late reaction but: bloody awesome display!
There can be more to come as well. If the pack can keep that competition up against the other big sides and the backs can get into their rhythm then there's no reason to doubt giving anyone a run for their money.

i loved the irish managers comment at the end of the irish game.
"forwards win games. backs decide by how much". very true

watched the japan vs tonga match this morning, was surprised by how much i was rooting for Japan. And how open and exciting a game it was. Japan were having none of this let the forwards grind out the yards and kick the pens. Lots of breaks and looking to win it with tries. Obviously they were down for most of the game, but it wasn't ever a huge margin and though Kirwan was disappointed with their penalty count, think one of the commentators was saying the Japanese had marked this game as one they could win, I for one wasn't..
Really looking forward to france new zealand on the weekend, should be a cracker..

^ Not if you believe the Kiwis bleating on about the France B team! Japan Tonga was a cracker, I am always surprised that Japan don't have a bigger pack and are so anti the forwards game as I would have thought if you could get a couple of second rate sumo wrestlers with half decent hand eye co-ordination you could have the makings of an intimidating front row.
Haven't been on this thread for a while I see that my inability to spend enough time online whilst on holiday and check team sheets / change players on my fantasy rugby team means I am being roundly beaten but I had to placate Mrs Bobbo after telling her that I may watch "1 or 2" games of rugby while we were away!
Congrats Wibble and any other swimming Scots ;) on the amazing victory over the Aussies - well deserved. Still think that Italy will be gunning for you guys especially if they get the bonus point against the USA but if you play the way you did against the Aussies it will be a fooken cricket score

Sweet jesus, that Juan de Jong is a pretty impressive substitution! scores in under 45 seconds of coming on then almost gets a second 2 minutes later.
-

De Jong is pretty awesome, like back row it's a bit of a shame he's got such good players ahead of him though.. Gio Aplon and Hougaard are the most exciting Saffas for me though, especially Gio. Makes me almost wish they hadn't been recognised & decided to come to England (and thus Sarries).

England looking good against a limited Romania.
You forget how Wilkinson can be a really good running fly half... and has a great eye for a pass, lovely little inside pop pass for ashton's last try.. If he can play like he has done so far, probably is cementing a place in the starting line up for the knockout stages...
Would prefer to see a bit more of Toby Flood though. -

Wow. I hate the commentary on England games.
Bring on France v NZ!

• #721
this game's stared at a hundred miles an hour, France are putting the hammer down early. They've just rushed New Zealand out of the blocks so far. Intensity level is amazing..
No French B Team this.. -

One of my favourite tries ever:

All Blacks have upped the pace. Pressure is increasing on France. Damn that last try was pretty! Lovely little weighted pass, just left there for the try scorer to pluck it out of the air.
Nonu's long break for the first try as well was a bit special..
France need to try and regain that control they had for the first ten or so mins...

Bye bye Frenchies!

This is a dismantling! Finally Im somewhere with a tv to watch the rugby!
Get in! They needed a score after the pressure. Immense effort from the forwards.
