Tackle lower? Soft, but you can't hit the head.
-
• #3828
Not make contact with the head.

It's a perfect tackle, he wraps his arms and hits chest height. Billy hits his head after initial contact. It's a shocking call. It's a rugby incident.

Time for Jones to go. England have become so bad and have no in game management on the field - it's been coached out of them. Fresh input needed.

Missed the Ireland game, worth catching up with?

If you're an Ireland fan, yes.

England have been very poor in 4 out of 5 games
Jones is a twat, but it has to be the players too
I said it a week ago, I'm amamzed either Vunipola makes the 15 - must be past "glories"
No leadership on the field
No forwards who can make a pass
Shocking penalty count, all in the wrong area - the fella with the mullet must have played 10 minutes in the tournament and given away 2 penalties in front of the posts
Farrell hurts himself putting in another of those "hits" he's famous for
There can be no more than 3 England players who would get into the Lions squad on form
If I were an England fan, I would be worried that Jones' response will be to pick a bigger and more physical pack
The red card was a red all day long, like it or not, according to the rules, which are there for a reasonAnyway, time for the French to show their class

As many as 3? Unless they need water bottle carriers I can't see past Itoje.

This ref has to be one of the best at the moment, keeps the game flowing, but when needed, takes his time on decisions.

France-Wales is off the hook - how many times held up over the line, all the cards etc

Perplexed to have such an easy game against England, we’ve been playing a game (push teams all over the park without creating much) that shouldn’t work so well against them. They were poor.
There’ll still be more Saracens players on the Lions flight than Scots.

England looked like they had only been told 15 minutes before that there was a game on. Zero plan, zero leadership. The whole team feels like a bunch of individual egos selected on, as @Markyboy says, past glories.
As bad as England were, I'm still really stoked with how Ireland played. They ground down and shut out every one of those egos. Even Farrell's bully boy hit ups and tackles were ineffectual and even landed him with a bump. There was a good amount of schadenfreude when he crocked himself on that one. And as soon as things don't go the way England want them to, they A) don't have the ability to adapt or implement plan b (see the Italian tackle only shit housery from a few years ago) or B) throw their toys out of the pram and spend the rest of the game and beyond in a toddler's huff (see medal awards at the World Cup).
Jones needs to go. He has done a lot of impressive stuff for both Japan and England, but he's a one trick pony and everyone else is now wise to that trick.
I'm also gutted that Stander is retiring but really happy for him he gets to go out on that win at the top of his game. Also great to see Ireland constantly drip feeding in more players and asking different things of the old guard. A slimmed down Stockdale shows that they are wise to these big, young, fast, bruisers of wingers having a limited shelf life. Players like Earls are going to be much more productive for much longer. The way their second rows and back rows are pretty interchangeable and really fucking good in either spot is also exciting.

At a push Curry and Watson

Watson and Curry, maybe, but not playing at peak form, not helped by England's 2 phase, kick game plan. Sad times as a follower of England, so much talent in all positions, not much of it utilised, don't think a change of coach is necessary, just a lot of talking and head scratching to come up with a new approach.
@stevo_com Ireland were rather impressive, Murray and Sexton ran the game so easily, and the pack were well fired up. Tis sad to see Stander go, he's been awesome to watch. -

It's the frustrating thing as an Ireland fan. So much of their game has been built for so long around those two. So if they have an off day, the game is gone, even if the team sheet makes you think "fucking hell, how can we lose?" Andy Farrell is starting to bring in new blood in those positions, which will help. And Hugo Keenan stepping in in place of Rob Kearney, I did not see him coming!!!!
That's one of the softest red cards I've ever seen. Absolutely shocking decision. What exactly is Aki supposed to do?
